So You
Want to Work in NASCAR….
My NASCAR
job seeker’s diary
Volume 5 - Raging into
the Future
For those of us seeking a
position within the ranks of the NASCAR
workforce there is not any difference
from those seeking to drive. The key is
getting someone to believe. Conveying
your beliefs in yourself to those
decision makers who are in a position to
hire members whether it is for a tire
carrier or a PR representative is the
number one key.
I have spoken to so many
people since I began this series of
columns in search of positions from
engineer to photographers to publicity.
There seems to be the same sentiments
coming from all walks of life. I don’t
think myself unique in the fact that my
drive has solely been placed in this
direction for more than a few years. I
realize that it takes a unique type of
drive to get here. My faith in me has
never wavered. I remember telling
people that I worked with previously
that I wanted this and they would laugh
and say “that is too competitive” or
“you can’t do that”. Moments like that
define you. Your choices lay before you
and even though the easy route would be
to allow those people to dictate your
future and give up before your journey
has even begun…NASCAR is looking for
those with the will and drive to step up
to that and excel in the face of
adversity. I expect that road blocks
can be placed in my way but in a
competitive industry where not only the
drivers compete to survive you have to
stand up and be counted “I can be that
competitive and I CAN do that”. Stand
firm and believe in your own power to
persevere.
And a note to those team
owners and representatives…WE are out
here and we are knocking on the door.
We are ready to stand up for those that
have the same faith in us that at one
point someone had in you. We believe,
and we will not go gently into that good
night we plan to hold on to our dreams
and rage…rage into our futures and the
future of a new light in the industry.
