Brian Vickers says he will be out at least six months which amounts to the remainder of the NASCAR season due to blood clots in his lungs and left leg.
“When they did the scan, they found blood clots in both lungs and my left leg.” Vickers said.
Vickers spoke to the media at Charlotte Motor Speedway on Friday for the first time since he was hospitalized earlier this week. During the press conference he has been revealed that he will miss the remainder of the Sprint Cup season after being advised by his physician, Dr. Steven Limentani, to sit out a minimum of six months.
Vickers says he is going to rest, recuperate and do some things that he has not been able to do since he has been a full-time driver of the No. 83 Toyota for Red Bull Racing. But he says that he will race again next season and try to win the Daytona 500.
“This sucks — because this is what I love to do. This is my life, this is what I love to do. I fully intend to be able to do it again.” Vickers said.
