Chase Mattioli to make Camping World Truck Series Debut at Pocono Raceway

Pennsylvania native and NYC college student Chase Mattioli will make his NASCAR Camping World Truck Series debut this weekend in the inaugural Pocono Mountains 125 this Saturday at Pocono Raceway.

“It’s a dream come true to have the opportunity to make my NASCAR Camping World Truck Series debut in Pocono’s inaugural NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race as a member of Stacy Compton’s Turn One Racing Team,” Chase commented in the team preview. “This weekend is going to be a great learning experience for me, and I plan to use this opportunity to learn as much as I can from the veteran drivers like Stacy, all while running a smart, clean race. I am not old enough to go to our casinos yet, so I will do my betting on the track.”

He’ll be racing the No. 64 Chevrolet Silverado for Turn One Racing as a teammate to team owner Stacey Compton, who drives the No. 60 SafeAuto Insurance Chevrolet in the 50-lap event on the 2.5-mile triangle.

“We are really excited to work with this outstanding up-and-coming young talent this weekend at Pocono Raceway,” said Stacy Compton. “We have had a lot of success this year with Narain Karthikeyan driving for us, and it will be great to see this remarkable young man be successful in our trucks. We have always had the intention of expanding our team to a two-truck operation and there is no better time than now to make that happen. Pocono Raceway is Chase’s home track and we are really excited about the chance to put him in top-quality equipment in front of his hometown crowd.”

Right after the Truck race, Mattioli will also compete in the Weis Markets/ARCA 125 as well, driving the No. 17 car for Roulo Brothers Racing.

In the June ARCA race at Pocono, he qualified 15th and got as high as eighth, before a broken drive shaft on lap 32, which resulted in a 29th place finish.

Mattioli currently sits 17th in the ARCA point standings, despite not entering two races, with a season high finish of 12th at Toledo in May.

Speed will be showing live coverage of the Pocono Mountains 125 at 1 p.m. EST, with radio coverage on select MRN affiliates and Sirius NASCAR Radio Channel 128.

The Weis Markets/ARCA 125 will follow, live on Speed at 3:00p.m EST. Live radio coverage and live timing/scoring can also be heard through the ARCA Racing Network website (http://www.arcaracing.com).
