Miss Sprint Cup, Red Bull Racing’s Brian Vickers Help Promote Sprint Fan Vote

HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. – May 5, 2011 – Miss Sprint Cup Monica Palumbo recently found out firsthand the lengths to which a NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver will go in order to be in the NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race, scheduled for Saturday, May 21, at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

Palumbo was invited on a stock car ride-along with Brian Vickers, driver of the No. 83 Red Bull Toyota.

“The Sprint Fan Vote is one of my most favorite aspects of the NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race because it gives fans a voice in the starting lineup,” said Palumbo. “It’s so easy for fans to participate. I had a blast out there with Brian, but have to admit that at times I was a little nervous. It was the first time I’ve ever been in a car during a burnout and it was such a rush.”

“I was supposed to be in the Sprint All-Star Race last season,” said Vickers, “but wasn’t able to run it because of the blood clots. This year, if I don’t race my way in, I’m hoping to have a shot at it through the Sprint Fan Vote. My fans are awesome and their strong support helped me get through last season. This is a fun way to get them involved again. Monica and I had a great time shooting the video, and thanks to Sprint for asking me to be a part of it.”
