Sam Hornish Jr. (No. 12 Alliance Truck Parts Dodge Challenger R/T) Qualified Second CAN YOU TALK ABOUT YOUR QUALIFYING RUN? “A good qualifying (session) for Team Penske and Penske Racing. I felt like there was a little bit more left in the car. I was watching Jacques (Villeneuve) running over the curbs and I pretty much tried to stay off of them, especially in Turn 14. I thought I was going to get just a little bit of it (curb) and got twice as much as I wanted. That was at the end of the first lap and it hurt that lap and the next one because you’re coming up to the start-finish line. I felt like there was a little bit left in the car. I’m really happy with the guys who worked on the Alliance Truck Parts Dodge Challenger. I’m happy to get qualifying over and just gotta go race now.”
Jacques Villeneuve (No 22 Dodge Dodge Challenger R/T) Qualified Third CAN YOU TALK ABOUT YOUR QUALIFYING EFFORT? “I’m very disappointed because the car is a lot faster than this and I didn’t get the most out of it. I’m just disappointed with myself. The team is working hard; the car has been quick. Sam (Hornish Jr.) did a great job, which is great for the team. Hopefully we won’t collect each other at the start because it’s a little bit hairy on this track. Ultimately, we have a very fast race car for tomorrow.”
WHY WEREN’T YOU ABLE TO GET MORE OUT OF THE CAR? “You do a couple of laps and you push and during a lap you figure out that you could brake a little bit later here or there. Sometimes you go out in qualifying and do get the perfect lap. You’re aggressive and you get everything, every inch you can and that just didn’t happen today. That’s why I’m a little bit unhappy.”
ANY CONCERN WITH STARTING NEXT TO DANICA AFTER WHAT HAPPENED AT ROAD AMERICA? “Well, she’s a racer like any other out there and I’m sure she wants to have a good race as well.”
