Tricky Triangle for the Second Time…Justin Allgaier will be making his second NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) start this weekend at Pocono Raceway (Pocono). His first NSCS start was earlier this season in June at the 2.5-mile tri-oval. Allgaier was in the top 20 in the closing laps when a quarter panel brace broke, causing him to drop several spots and finish in the 27th position. Allgaier is a 2008 winner at Pocono in the ARCA Racing series, the same year he won the championship.
Meet Justin…On Sunday, August 3, Allgaier will attend the Pocono tweet up. The gathering of Twitter users is from 9:00 to 9:30 a.m. EDT and takes place just outside Fan Fair, behind the grandstands.
Indy Recap…Allgaier completed his first NSCS start at Indianapolis Motor Speedway last Sunday. After two practice sessions, with one shortened by rain, Allgaier qualified 31st for his first Brickyard 400. Allgaier stayed on the lead lap until late in the 400-mile race when he came down pit road for an unscheduled green-flag pit stop. He finished 27th in the Collision Cure Body Werks Chevrolet for HScott Motorsports at Indy.
Sunoco Rookie of the Year…After graduating to the NSCS this season, Allgaier is competing for Sunoco Rookie of the Year honors in the No. 51 AccuDoc Solutions Chevy. In 2009, Allgaier took home the Rookie of the Year title in the NASCAR Nationwide Series. After Indianapolis, Allgaier is currently third in the standings, behind Kyle Larson and Austin Dillon.

“I can’t wait to get to Pocono [Raceway]. Each corner is very unique and the rough surface and bumps are always a little more prevalent each time we go there. With this being my second time there, I can really focus on getting the car tuned to the track now that I’ve been able to adjust to it as a driver in a Sprint Cup car. It’s another fast track which adds to the excitement for the fans.”
Crew Chief Steve Addington on Pocono Raceway:
“This weekend will be Justin’s second time at Pocono [Raceway] this season and that’s going to be very helpful. We have a book of notes built for him from the June race so that gives us a good head start to this weekend. It looks like the weather is going to be an issue with rain in the forecast, but that’s typical Pocono. We will adjust how we run practice and qualifying accordingly.”
About Competition Director and Crew Chief Steve Addington:
Spartanburg, S.C. native Steve Addington joined HScott Motorsports in January 2014 as competition director and crew chief for the No. 51 BRANDT Chevrolet SS. Steve comes to the team from Stewart-Haas Racing, where he spent the past two seasons as crew chief on the No. 14 team and earned four wins with Tony Stewart. Addington also served as a Sprint Cup Series crew chief at Team Penske and Joe Gibbs Racing, racking up a total of 20 wins in the series. Addington began his career working on dirt cars and is a former Nationwide Series crew chief. Addington resides in China Grove, N.C. with his wife Katie and has three children.
