Deep Dish Racing…The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) heads to the Windy City for some Friday night racing under the lights at Chicagoland Speedway. Chicagoland was one of the five tracks Ben Kennedy made a start at in 2013. In last year’s event, Kennedy earned a 12th-place starting spot before bringing his Chevrolet Silverado home in the 16th position.

Previous Race Recap…Kennedy and the No. 31 Heater.com team overcame an early pit-road penalty in the Rookie of the Year contender’s first road course event in the NCWTS. After serving a pass-thru penalty on lap 16, Kennedy appeared to be on his way to a top-10 finish in his debut at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park. However, a flat tire in the closing laps dashed those chances, ultimately resulting in a 15th-place finish in the Chevrolet Silverado 250.

It’s always good when you can go back to a track you’ve raced at before, because it eliminates the learning curve you have anytime you go somewhere new. TSM has such a strong mile-and-a-half program and I know how much time and work goes into these new trucks, so I have no doubt that we’re going to be fast. We’ve had some rough luck the last few weekends, so I’m ready to turn things around and bring home a strong finish for Heater.com and my team.”

Back on Track…After a small break from the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS), Tayler Malsam returns to the No. 32 Turner Scott Motorsports (TSM) truck for a night of racing under the lights at Chicagoland Speedway. Despite not having competed in a truck at the 1.5-mile track since 2009, Malsam made two NASCAR Nationwide Series starts in the Windy City in 2012. With experience on his side this weekend, Malsam hopes to carry momentum from his last NCWTS race with TSM at Michigan International Speedway, where he claimed his career-best finish of fourth.

Previous Race Recap…The last time Malsam was behind the wheel of the No. 32 truck was at Michigan International Speedway in August. After two solid practice sessions with his TSM team, Malsam advanced the Outerwall Chevy to the final round of knockout qualifying and earned his best starting spot of the season. Taking the green flag from the eighth position, Malsam had the fastest truck on the track for the majority of the 100-lap race, ultimately earning a fourth-place finish after an impressive performance behind the wheel.
