ROUND TWO AT CHICAGO: Elliott Sadler and the No. 11 OneMain Financial team travel back to Joliet, IL, this weekend to compete in the NASCAR Nationwide Series event at Chicagoland Speedway. In ten Nationwide Series starts at the track, Sadler has one win in 2012, earned two top-five and five top-10 finishes with 152 laps led. In addition, the veteran driver has 10 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series starts at Chicago.
JUST THE STATS: After 25 races in the 2014 season, Sadler is currently in fourth place in the Nationwide Series driver championship point standings, 54 points back from the lead. The Emporia, Va., native has one win, one pole award, five top-five and 18 top-10 finishes.
LAST RACE: RICHMOND INTERNATIONAL RACEWAY: Sadler qualified in the 16th position for the Nationwide Series race at Richmond International Raceway last Friday night. Sadler quickly moved the No. 11 through the field and with multiple quick pits stops, Sadler managed to work his way up to second. An untimely caution came out at the tail end of race, which put Sadler and the No. 11 in a tough position for the restart. Sadler battled around his hometown track for the final laps and crossed the finish line in eighth place.
ELLIOTT SADLER QUOTES: “This weekend we head back to Chicagoland Speedway for the second time this year. When we raced here in July, we had a quick car in practice and qualifying, but during the race our car completely changed because we had a part break in the rear. That broken part, which we didn’t find till after the race, was the reason why the handling was so different from what we had in practice and in qualifying. The plan this weekend is to get the No. 11 OneMain Financial back the way we had in July and try to get another win at this track. Now that were getting down to the final few NNS races of the season, we’re going to need to make some big moves to help put ourselves in the drivers seat for the championship.”
