Auto Club Speedway – By the Numbers

-

The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series heads to the Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, California this weekend for the Auto Club 400. Brad Keselowski is the defending race winner, scoring the victory after leading only the final lap.

Two drivers have won consecutive races at the track; Jimmie Johnson (fall of 2009, spring of 2010) and Kyle Busch (2013, 2014). As we take a look at the statistics, racing and gaming enthusiasts can check the odds on drivers and explore popular gaming sites that explain how to play bingo, casino games and more.

Jimmie Johnson will be returning to his home track which also happens to be where he captured his first win, sporting a Superman paint scheme on his Hendrick Motorsports No. 48 Chevrolet. His numbers at Auto Club Speedway speak for themselves. He ranks first all-time in wins (5), top fives (12), top 10s (15), has an average finish of 6.4, an average running position of 6.0, a driver rating (119.4) and has led 955 laps.

Johnson’s last victory came six years ago in Feb. 2010 and he has not finished better than ninth since 2011 when he was runner-up.  Of special note; if Johnson is victorious on Sunday, he will have 77 career wins and move ahead of Dale Earnhardt to claim seventh on the all-time list while Earnhardt would move to eighth place.

Kevin Harvick will be another racer to watch as this California native carries the momentum from a dominating win at Phoenix in his No. 4 Stewart-Haas Racing Chevrolet. Since 2014, Harvick leads all Sprint Cup drivers with 4702 laps led and is almost always a threat to steal the checkered flag no matter the track.

Joe Gibbs Racing’s Kyle Busch is another favorite, having won in Fontana in 2013 and 2014. After missing the race last year, due to injury, Busch is no doubt eager to add another victory to his Auto Club Speedway resume. He has three wins, eight top fives and 12 top 10s at the two-mile oval with a driver rating of 110.0.

After missing out on the win at Phoenix last week by a mere 0.010 seconds, Carl Edwards is hungry for this first victory of the season. His stats indicate that this just might be the place to accomplish his goal. In his second year with JGR, Edwards has three top-five finishes and is second only to Johnson (6.4) in the average finish category with an 8.9 and has one win, eight top fives and 14 top 10s at Auto Club Speedway.

Tune into the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Auto Club 400 on FOX this Sunday at 3:30 p.m. ET. It will also be broadcast on MRN radio and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.
