Roger Penske and Team Penske Celebrate 50 Years in Racing and Talk 2016

Ford Wednesday of the Charlotte Motor Speedway Media Tour continued with Team Penske. It was obvious that a celebration was being planned with the genuine Borg-Warner trophy sitting outside the main ballroom at the Charlotte Convention Center and banners everywhere. That said, it was also time to talk 2016. After a very successful 2015 that saw Joey Logano win six races, Brad Keselowski win one, and bringing home the owner’s crown in the XFINITY Series, the team is still looking forward to 2016.

“What do I attribute to my success? It’s hard getting out of this business once you get in it,” team owner Roger Penske said. “To me, it’s my day job on the weekends. We’re in this for one reason—to win. I will be at the races as long as I can stand up. I’ve learned through my business life that you want no turnover. The key is absolute continuity.

“I tip my hat to Tim Cindric. We build all our cars the same. The only way you can tell the difference is when we put the decals on. It’s like a 7-iron. Each player holds it differently.”

Team Penske will enter 2016 virtually the same as 2015 with Brad Keselowski driving the No. 2 and Joey Logano in the No. 22. Driving in the XFINITY car will start with Brad and will also see Logano and Ryan Newman, among others in the seat.
