ADVANCE NOTES

Reed at Pocono Raceway

This weekend marks the first ever visit to Pocono Raceway for the NASCAR XFINITY Series. Reed has competed at the track twice in the ARCA Racing Series. In 2012, he recorded two top-10 finishes in the series at Pocono.

Double Duty

Reed will compete in the 80-lap ARCA Racing Series event at Pocono Raceway on Friday, June 3rd for Lira Motorsports behind the wheel of the No. 38 Lilly Diabetes Ford. In 2015, Reed captured two wins in three starts in the ARCA Racing Series for Lira Motorsports. Reed won at Chicagoland Speedway and Kentucky Speedway and finished fourth at Kansas Speedway.

Riding with Ryan

American Diabetes Association® representative and diabetes advocate Tanya Dunning will ‘ride’ along with Roush Fenway Racing driver Ryan Reed during this weekend’s race. The Quakertown, Pa. resident will have her name featured on a decal above the passenger-side window of the No. 16 Ford Mustang.

Like Reed, Dunning lives with diabetes and knows the importance of staying healthy to manage her diabetes. After she was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes 11 years ago, she lost enough weight through diet and exercise that she is now able to use those tools alone to manage the disease. She is an avid fundraiser for the Lehigh Valley American Diabetes Association Step Out: Walk to Stop Diabetes® event. For the past three years, she has walked in the event as a Champion – a participant who has raised at least a $1,000 to help Stop Diabetes®. This weekend, Dunning will have the opportunity to meet Reed and watch the race from atop the No. 16 Lilly Diabetes/American Diabetes Association pit box.

Reed in 2016

Reed is scored 10th in the NASCAR XFINITY Series Championship standings after 11 races. Reed has led eight laps for the season and has recorded an average finish of 16.9.

Charlotte Recap

Reed and the No. 16 team finished 19th at Charlotte Motor Speedway on Saturday after suffering a flat tire early in the race. Reed was running inside the top 10 before being forced down pit road to avoid an on-track incident, causing him to lose valuable track position prior to the flat tire after the Lap 58 restart.

Reed on Pocono Raceway

“All of the XFINITY Series regulars become rookies again this weekend as we take on Pocono for the first time in these cars,” said Reed. “It will be really interesting to see how these cars handle over the bumps and what kind of speed we reach as we hit the track for the first time on Thursday. I’m excited to have some extra seat time in the ARCA car since I haven’t driven around this place since 2012 and hope that experience will translate to our No. 16 Lilly Diabetes/American Diabetes Association Ford Mustang.”

Meet Reed

Reed and teammate Bubba Wallace will visit with fans at the Pocono Raceway XFINITY Zone on Saturday, June 4th at 10:30 a.m. ET.
