Toyota Clinches 2016 NXS Manufacturer’s Title

Toyota claims fourth NXS manufacturer’s title with victory at Homestead-Miami Speedway

HOMESTEAD, Fla. (Nov. 19, 2015) – Toyota captured the 2016 NASCAR XFINITY Series (NXS) manufacturer’s championship with a victory by Daniel Suarez at Homestead Miami Speedway on Saturday.

Camry drivers won 19-of-33 NXS events in the 2016 season to secure Toyota’s fourth manufacturer’s championship in the XFINITY Series following the season finale.

“We’re overjoyed to take home the NASCAR XFINITY Series title for Toyota this year,” said Ed Laukes, Vice President of Integrated Marketing Operations for Toyota Motor Sales (TMS), U.S.A. “Of course, we’re extremely proud of Daniel Suarez for winning this year’s XFINITY Series driver’s championship, who in combination with all of our Camry drivers have contributed to Toyota’s fourth manufacturer’s championship in the series. This is Toyota’s 10th year competing in both the NASCAR XFINITY and Cup Series with the Camry and so we’re delighted to have captured the XFINITY Series manufacturer’s title this season, as well as to have won the 2016 Truck Series title last weekend.”

Camry driver Daniel Suarez also claimed the 2016 NASCAR XFINITY Series championship in the series’ first season using the Chase format. En route to his title run, Suarez tallied three wins, 27 top-10 finishes and led 347 laps.

Toyota also secured the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) manufacturer’s championship during the series’ penultimate event at Phoenix International Raceway last weekend, and Toyota is in position to win both the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver’s and manufacturer’s championships in tomorrow’s season finale. Tundra team Kyle Busch Motorsports won the NCWTS owner’s title on Friday night at Homestead.

The 2016 NXS manufacturer’s championship is Toyota’s fourth since entering XFINITY Series competition in 2007. Toyota previously won the honor from 2008 through 2010.

Since joining NXS competition in 2007, Toyota has won 128 races and captured 130 poles in 339 races.
