Jason White on The Rock: “The return of NASCAR to Rockingham will be something special, and for it to happen with the debut of the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series at the track is cool. The racing will be great as the track has 3 to 4 lanes of racing, which makes for a highly entertaining race. As it has been in the past, tire management will be crucial for everyone since the tires fall off dramatically after just a few laps. I was able to spend a day testing at the track last year and I think that should benefit me in getting up to speed quicker. We have a few things that we want to try in practice, but the tires may limit how much we can do in those sessions. This team continues to put strong trucks underneath me right off the trailer every week and this week will be no different. I look forward to having a great time in this very special race and to continue our string of strong runs at the beginning of this season.”
Jason to Make Rockingham Debut: This will mark Jason’s first career start at the legendary track in Rockingham, North Carolina. Jason will benefit from some testing time at the one-mile oval that he was able to complete last year.
Jason’s Thoughts on the Start of the Season: “I am very satisfied with this team’s start to 2012. I do not want to say I am content because while we have two top-10 finishes to our credit, I feel that each of them could have been better. We have worked hard over the winter and early this season in building this race team and will continue to do so. We had some time between the first two races but now we have to pick up the pace for the next two weeks, and it will be very important for the team and me to continue with this momentum we have started with our Daytona and Martinsville performances.”
“50 Cal” is Loaded and Ready: The GunBroker.com team will be bringing the truck they nicknamed “50 Cal” to Rockingham. In honor of the team’s sponsor, GunBroker.com, the GB Racing team uses gun and shooting themed names for most of their trucks – thus the name “50 Cal”. “50 Cal” last raced in the 2011 season and has always been a strong truck for Jason. The truck provided Jason with his career best finish of third in the 2009 race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway after starting from the third position. “50 Cal” has been outfitted with a new Ford body and is loaded and ready for Rockingham.
Jason’s Thoughts on 2012 Schedule Challenges: “With our solid start to the season, I have been anxious as ever to get back behind the wheel of my No. 23
GunBroker.com Ford each week. However, with the way the schedule is at the start of the season that just isn’t possible. On the positive side, this time away from the
track has given us the opportunity to continue to build this GB Racing team and utilize the time off to improve on our inventory of trucks. It is kind of a double edge
sword but I am more than ready for these back to back races the next two weeks.”
