ENGINE FAILURE ONCE AGAIN ENDS IN A DISAPPOINTING FINISH FOR NASCAR DRIVER CHASTAIN

After disappointing engine failure in Kansas, it seems the same trouble caught him again at Charlotte Motor Speedway ending his day on lap 12 of the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series NC Education Lottery 200 on Friday night.

Earlier in the day, Chastain practiced the truck and felt great about the No. 08 Florida Watermelon Association / National Watermelon Promotion Board Toyota Tundra.  The nose slid around a bit in turns three and four but he was able to keep control and hold it wide open. Since the sun would be down at race time, Chastain knew he would have a fast truck and able to keep it turning.

Qualifying proved Chastain was a contender when he ran his truck in the 18th position despite getting a little sideways in turns three and four.

At the green flag, Chastain was able to advance his truck to 15th during the first two laps of the race.  However, on only lap 12 of the NC Education Lottery 200 Chastain felt the engine stall out, lose power and eventually let go ending his night and placing him in a disappointing 35th  position.

“I don’t know what’s going on”, stated a frustrated Chastain. “We start out well and I don’t know why this keeps happening to us.  I hate it for our team and for the Florida Watermelon Association / National Watermelon Promotion Board.  We work so hard each week it’s really frustrating to have this happen two races in a row.  We had a great truck and I know we would have finished well.”

Next up for Chastain and his No. 08 Florida Watermelon Association / National Watermelon Promotion Board Toyota Tundra is the Lucas Oil 200 at Dover International Speedway, June 1, 2012.  SPEED TV will be broadcasting live beginning at 4:30 pm EST.
