New Tundra in Sin City: Todd Bodine and the No. 11 Toyota Care Tundra team travel to Las Vegas Motor Speedway this Saturday for the Smith’s 350. Aside from a brand new Tundra built specifically by his Red Horse Racing team to fit his driving style, Bodine will carry experience from victories in the NASCAR Nationwide and Camping World Truck Series to the track this weekend. But even with all the preparation on his side, “The Onion” knows all the cards need to fall right to end up in victory lane at the end of the night.

“The Red Horse Racing crew and the guys in the fab shop have been working extra hard this year building chassis and hanging bodies, and I know this new Tundra we’ll be bringing to the track is going to be fast. But to have a shot at the win, we’re going to have to have everything go right, including pit stops, handling and track position,” Bodine claimed.

Bowling for Charity: Todd Bodine and the No. 11 Toyota Care team, along with several other NASCAR competitors and personalities, will participate in the Fifth-Annual Burn-Out Bowl-Off on Thursday night, September 27. Proceeds from the night will benefit Speedway Children’s Charities, and the public is welcome to join the tournament as spectators. Bowling is set to begin at 9:30 PM at South Point Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.

Red Horse Airborne:The Red Horse Racing crew will visit Nellis Air Force Base on Thursday afternoon before heading to the track for this weekend’s NASCAR Camping World Truck Series competition. The visit will include a special meet and greet, along with demolition and heavy equipment demonstrations with the 820th Red Horse Airborne team that is based out of the Nellis Air Force Base.

Appearing in Las Vegas: Bodine and teammate Timothy Peters will participate in an autograph session at the Riviera Casino & Hotel on Thursday night, September 27, at 6:30 PM. The two-time champion will also participate in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series autograph session on Friday, September 28 from 6-7:00 PM at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

Previous Race Recap:Todd Bodine named his keys to success prior to the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series event at Kentucky Speedway last Friday evening, claiming that track position would be important in order to be in contention for the win. After qualifying in the seventh spot, an early spin due to oil on the track sent Bodine near the rear of the field. Just two laps later, two competitors stacked up in front of Bodine, creating contact that would cause terminal damage to his Toyota Care Tundra. The streak of bad luck continued for the two-time series champion as he ended the night in the garage area with a 30th place finish.

Follow Along: For updates throughout the week at the shop, coverage of events and weekends at the track, media and fans can follow Red Horse Racing and its drivers on Twitter and Facebook.

Chassis History:Todd Bodine will pilot chassis number 005 this weekend at Las Vegas for the first time. This brand new Toyota Tundra chassis was built by the Red Horse Racing crew specifically for Bodine and intermediate track competition.

Toyota Racing For Awareness: Toyota Racing kicked off ‘Racing For Awareness’ in August, a friendly competition among women affiliated with the Toyota NASCAR program to design t-shirts that will support breast cancer awareness. Among the participants are two members of the Red Horse Racing family, Janet Bodine, wife of driver Todd Bodine, and Sara Peters, wife of driver Timothy Peters. The winning design will be selected from fan votes and produced during the Charlotte race weekend in October, and Toyota will donate $500 in the name of each participant to Carolina Breast Friends in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Vote at ToyotaRacing.com/RacingForAwareness now through Oct. 4, 2012 at 12 PM (ET).

Todd Bodine on Las Vegas Speedway

Do you have any unique stories from your experiences in Vegas?

“The year I won the truck race out there, we all went out early as a team. On Tuesday when we all got there, my odds were 10 to 1. On Friday after practice, we were the favorites, like 2-3 odds. When we got there, the owners of my team put down a lot of money on me, and we won the race. It was pretty cool to see the odds change in our favor and pay off.”

What are your feelings on luck?

“You make your own luck. I don’t really believe in any superstitions really, but to contradict myself, I have to put my right shoe on first, and my right glove on first. It’s not really a superstition, I don’t really know why I have to do it, but I do. Walking under ladders and head’s up pennies; those things I don’t really pay attention to because there are too many variables to say that it’s all about luck. But now, I’d rather be lucky than good.”
