Ambrose Brings Mac Tools Colors Back to Kentucky

Red and White Returns to Hood and Sides of No. 9

CONCORD, N.C. (June 25, 2013) – Looking for his first oval win, Marcos Ambrose hopes it comes this weekend at the 1.5-mile Kentucky Speedway in Sparta. Doing so, the win will also come with the colors and logo of Mac Tools on the Richard Petty Motorsports No.9 Ford Fusion. This is the second time that the Mac Tools colors have been with Ambrose this year.

Ambrose comes into Kentucky with two previous NASCAR Sprint Cup Series starts at the track. He has an average start of 11.5 and an average finish of 16.5 in his races with Richard Petty Motorsports. His best finish is 13th at the track and has finished on the lead lap in both events. He also won his first NASCAR pole at the track, in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, in 2006.

Ambrose heads into the race after collecting his third top-10 of the race season at Sonoma.

Comments from Mac Tools Ford Fusion Driver Marcos Ambrose:

“Kentucky is a track where I’ve had some special things happen in my career. Earning my first NASCAR pole in the Truck Series was really special.  I will always associate Kentucky with that accomplishment. I have always had some good speed at the track and we race well there too.

“The biggest thing, we’ve been in contention at the end of the races at Kentucky, but just not high enough to get the best finishes. Our goal this weekend is to be in contention, but also be in a position to win the race. We look at what we did at Charlotte during the 600 when we finished 10th. We were in contention. Now, we just need a little bit more and get a win.

“We are putting the red and white colors on the car this weekend with the Mac Tools logo.  It’s their second race race of the year and we want to give them a good ride.”

Comments from Crew Chief Drew Blickensderfer on Kentucky:

“As an organization, we’re working hard on the mile-and-a-half tracks. We want to keep improving and hopefully we can compete for the win this weekend. We are in a position now that wins are important for us to be eligible for the chase. I know Marcos can do it and he knows we can do it. It’s a matter of putting the pieces all together.”

Chassis History:

The No. 9 team will bring the same chassis they raced at Las Vegas and Kansas earlier this year. The best finish for the car is 20th.
