Iowa Speedway – American Ethanol 200
July 11, 2014

Iowa Bound…The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) heads to Newton, Iowa for the American Ethanol 200 at Iowa Speedway. Four-time champion Ron Hornaday Jr. has seven previous starts at the 0.875-mile tri-oval, with his best finish of second coming in the spring of 2012. Hornaday has amassed three top fives and three top 10s at the track, leading 22 laps on his way to an average finish of 14.7.

This Week’s Silverado…The No. 30 Rheem Comfort Products team will unload chassis TSM-225 for this weekend’s race at Iowa Speedway. TSM-225 has hit the track twice this season with Hornaday behind the wheel: the Palmdale, California native piloted it to a ninth-place finish in Martinsville earlier this year and most recently drove it to a fifth-place finish at Gateway Motorsports Park.

Gotta Have a Rheem…Rheem Manufacturing Company (www.rheem.com) is privately held with headquarters in Atlanta. In its 88th year of operation, the company manufactures a full line of high-quality residential and commercial heating and cooling systems; tank, tankless, solar, and heat pump water heaters; swimming pool heaters and commercial boilers throughout North America and world markets. The company’s premium brands, including Raypak, Ruud and Rheem, have been recognized with countless industry and consumer awards for reliability, innovative design and high quality. Rheem is now in its eighth consecutive year as a NASCAR sponsor.

Previous Race Recap…Coming into Kentucky Speedway, Hornaday, wanted to continue his hot start to the 2014 NCWTS season and come home with a top-10 finish. Hornaday and his Rheem Comfort Products team did just that after pit strategy paid off for the No. 30 team with less than 50 laps remaining, putting him in position to finish eighth for Turner Scott Motorsports (TSM) in Kentucky.

Watch and Listen…The American Ethanol 200 can be seen live on Friday, July 11 on FOX Sports 1. Race coverage will begin at 8:00 p.m. EDT, and the event can also be heard live on MRN Radio as well as SiriusXM Satellite Radio, channel 90.

Ron Hornaday Jr. on Racing at Iowa Speedway

“Iowa is a great little track that’s always fun to race on. I’ve had some really good runs there in the past, but have never quite managed to close the deal and get a win; I’m really hoping to change that and bring our Rheem Comfort Products Chevrolet into victory lane. This team works so hard week after week, and there’s nothing I’d like more than to reward these guys by getting everyone at Turner Scott Motorsports a win.”

Kennedy’s finish also earned the 22-year-old Sunoco Rookie of the Race honors, extending his lead in the 2014 NCWTS rookie battle.

Ben Kennedy on Iowa Speedway:

“It feels good to be going back to a track where I have some experience. I really liked Iowa Speedway a lot when I raced there in the Truck Series last year, and I’m fortunate that I also have a lot of laps there in the K&N Series. Iowa Speedway always draws a great crowd and has some of the most welcoming fans. It’s a great facility and I can’t wait to get back there.”

July 11, 2014
America’s Heartland…After a weekend away from the racetrack, Tayler Malsam and the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) head to Iowa Speedway for a night of short-track racing in the Hawkeye State. This Week’s Silverado…Crew chief Mike Hillman Jr. and the No. 32 TSM team will unload a familiar chassis this weekend in Iowa. Driven to a top-10 finish by Malsam in the NCWTS return to Gateway Motorsports Park, TSM-231 was also driven to a top-10 finish by Ben Rhodes in his NCWTS debut at Martinsville Speedway this year.

Let’s Go…This week at Iowa Speedway, the No. 32 will sport the colors of Outerwall for the sixth of 12 races this year. As the company that brought consumers Redbox® entertainment, Coinstar® money services, and ecoATM® electronics recycling kiosks, Outerwall is leading the next generation of automated retail. With more than 20 years of experience, the company mission is to create a better everyday by delivering breakthrough kiosk experiences that delight consumers and generate revenue for retailers.

Previous Race Recap…In his second-career NCWTS start at Kentucky Speedway, Malsam brought home a 13th-place finish in the No. 32 Outerwall Chevrolet after battling for track position throughout the 150-lap race. Malsam’s weekend got off to a good start as the 25-year-old landed a 12th-place starting position for the UNOH 225. Throughout the race, Malsam remained within the top 15 and held position through multiple cautions. As the final caution arose on lap 140, the field prepared for a final 10-lap shootout. Malsam restarted in the 11th position, but fell two spots in the final laps, ultimately finishing 13th.

Watch and Listen…Don’t miss any of the action as the NCWTS makes its only stop of the season at Iowa Speedway. The American Ethanol 200 can be seen live on Friday, July 11 beginning at 8:00 p.m. EDT on FOX Sports 1. The race can also be heard live on MRN Radio as well as SiriusXM Satellite Radio, channel 90.

Tayler Malsam on Racing at Iowa Speedway

“I’m looking forward to racing at Iowa Speedway this weekend. I’ve raced at this track in both the Truck Series and Nationwide Series, so I’m familiar with the layout and the grooves. The finishes my Turner Scott Motorsports team and I have gotten recently aren’t representative of how strong our team is and how capable we are of winning. Hillman has had pretty good success at Iowa. I think we’ve got a good shot at contending for the win this weekend. We’re more determined than ever to prove what we’ve got.”
