2014: The Year of the (Red) Horse… Nine races into the 2014 season, Red Horse Racing holds the fourth and seventh positions in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series driver championship point standings with drivers Germán Quiroga and Timothy Peters, respectively. The RHR teams have collectively claimed six top-five and 14 top-10 finishes this season.

About Red Horse Racing… Following the 2005 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series event at Charlotte Motor Speedway, Clean Line Motorsports became Red Horse Racing under new ownership. Seven races later, Red Horse Racing earned both its first pole award and win at Memphis Motorsports Park with Brandon Whitt behind the wheel of the No. 38 Toyota Tundra. Now in its 10th year of NCWTS competition, Red Horse Racing has logged a total of 402 starts, earning 12 wins, 79 top-five finishes, 170 top-10 finishes and 11 pole awards, with an average starting position of 13.4 and an average finishing position of 14.3.

Meet Red Horse Racing Drivers at Eldora… RHR’s Timothy Peters and Germán Quiroga are scheduled to participate in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series autograph session with fellow drivers on Wednesday, July 23 from 1:45-2:30 p.m. local time. The event will take place in Eldora Speedway’s multi-purpose building located outside of Turns 3 & 4.

Dirt Racin’ Nothing New for These Horses… Their local dirt track was where some Red Horse Racing employees got their first taste of the sport. On the No. 77 team, hauler driver Keith “Big Show” Graham raced street stock cars for 13 years and won a championship in 1998 at North Okaloosa Motor Speedway; truck chief Mitch Way drove dwarf cars, modifieds and late models growing up in Iowa; tire specialist Isaiah Droud drove dirt go karts and a late model in Nebraska; and engineer Craig Noble raced go karts, midgets and micro sprints around Illinois. Red Horse Racing fabricator Rod Hussey worked on sprint cars in both Iowa and Australia; and shock specialist Chuck Schmick grew up working on northeast dirt modifieds in Pennsylvania. Schmick still builds shocks for friends around the country with dirt late models and northeast modifieds.

OH-I-O Buckeyes at RHR… Red Horse Racing’s director of competition Terry Cook hails from Sylvania, Ohio, while director of marketing and communications Jody (Jennings) Letourneau is a Toledo native.

He finished fifth in the American Ethanol 200 presented by Enogen at the Newton, Iowa race track on Friday, July 11, earning his second top-five result of the season. The Mexico City native moved up to fourth in the championship point standings, 19 points behind the leader.

GERMÁN QUIROGA QUOTES:

On racing on dirt for a second time… “I’m excited to go back to Eldora (Speedway) because I have an opportunity to improve on our results from last season. Everything was so new to me last year, from how the truck handled to how qualifying was set up. I’m looking forward to returning this year with a little more experience. The No. 77 team has worked really hard to prepare a great NET10 Wireless Toyota Tundra for this race, so that gives me a lot of confidence.”

On moving fourth in points after Iowa… “Consistency was our goal at the start of the season. We wanted to earn as many points as we could each race weekend, and I feel like we’ve done a good job at that. Consistency is what has allowed us to move to fourth in points, and our goal is to keep racing up front in the NET10 Wireless/OtterBox Toyota each weekend.”

Timothy Peters

Toyota TundraThis Week’s Red Horse Racing Toyota Tundra at Eldora Speedway… Peters will be competing in Red Horse Racing’s chassis No. 093 in the Mudsummer Classic at Eldora Speedway on Wednesday, July 23. Race Rewind: Iowa Speedway… Peters returned to Iowa Speedway as the reigning July race winner. The No. 17 team was fast in practice and qualified third for the American Ethanol 200 presented by Enogen. An incident on lap 61 however, left the Toyota Tundra with substantial damage, sending the team to the garage for repairs. Peters was able to get back on track for the final laps of the race, and finish in the 31st position.

TIMOTHY PETERS QUOTES:

On dirt track racing with the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series… “Racing the Tundras on dirt last year was a blast! We had a good finish, but I’m hoping we can go back this year and improve a little on our results from last season. I think the fans really enjoy this race and it’s one I’ve been looking forward to.”

On making up lost points from Iowa Speedway… “Our results at Iowa (Speedway) were unfortunate. It hurt us a bit in the championship point standings, but my team has continued to work hard. We aren’t even halfway through the season so I have no doubt that we can make up the lost ground and be up front fighting for the championship at the end.”
