Ragan to Cap 700-Plus Miles of Racing at Brickyard

MDS Transport Makes No. 34 Ford Debut at Historic Speedway

STATESVILLE, JULY 22, 2014 – David Ragan, driver of the No. 34 MDS Transport Ford, comments on racing at Indianapolis Motor Speedway:

“Indy is a special place. I grew up a stock-car fan, but I certainly remember watching the Indianapolis 500 with my family.  And I remember in the mid-90s when NASCAR made its debut at Indy, that was a big deal and special for NASCAR.

“We’ve had some fun at Indianapolis, sitting on the pole there a couple years ago. But it’s a tough racetrack. It’s designed to be really tight for a lot of speed, so it’s tough for stocks cars to race hard there. As you get into the corners, it’s very easy to miss your marks. If you don’t hit them just right, you can lose several tenths of a second. It’s a challenge and it’s different, but that’s what’s so fun about the Sprint Cup Series. You have different challenges every weekend.

“I’ll be racing my late model at Lucas Oil Raceway on Friday and doing the Nationwide race on Saturday, and then, of course, the Sprint Cup race on Sunday, so we’ve got a busy weekend of racing at Indianapolis. We’re looking forward to it.”

JUST THE FACTS: Ragan has seven Sprint Cup Series starts at Indianapolis Motor Speedway … He has one pole (2011) and one top-15 and three top-20 finishes at the famed Brickyard … His best finish at the track is 14th (2008) … Sunday’s Brickyard 400 will be Ragan’s third race of the weekend after running the ARCA/CRA Super Series on Friday and the NASCAR Nationwide Series on Saturday for a total of 718.6 miles … MDS Transport will make its first appearance as primary sponsor on the No. 34 Ford at Indy.. @DavidRagan earned one of his two Sprint Cup poles at @IMS (2011). #NASCAR

  1. Jenkins needs to invest in some engineering to get an extra 1.5 – 2 mph hour out of his cars. Both Davids, especially Ragan are better drivers than their current equipment allows them to show. Jenkins should be in OR out. Mediocre doesn’t cut it.
