I BET YOU DIDN’T KNOW THAT

Winning in Pairs: Jamie McMurray will attempt to even up at The Brickyard.  Of all the tracks where McMurray has won a NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) race, Indianapolis Motor Speedway (IMS) is the only track that McMurray has just one NSCS win.  In his other six career NSCS victories, McMurray has scored two wins each at Daytona International Speedway, Charlotte Motor Speedway and Talladega Superspeedway.

For those About to Rock: In addition to being on the track by way of Larson’s NNS No. 42 Chevrolet Camaro, CGRT partner Big Machine Records is back at Indy for the fourth consecutive year at the Brickfest Music Festival to entertain race fans during the weekend.  On both Saturday and Sunday, Big Machine Label Group superstars The Band Perry, Justin Moore and Brantley Gilbert will headline concerts for music and racing fans alike. Hot newcomers including A Thousand Horses, Drake White, Scotty Emerick, Ashley Campbell and Lauren Jenkins will amplify the excitement with additional sets. The unique events are free both days with track admission.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW FOR INDIANAPOLIS MOTOR SPEEDWAY

Jamie McMurray and No. 1 Cessna Team

NHMS Recap: The Granite State was the site of race number 19 for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) at New Hampshire Motor Speedway (NHMS).  The McDonald’s Chevrolet SS rolled off from the fifth starting position and was a top-10 car throughout most of the 305 lap race.  After cycling through some late-race pit stops under caution the McDonald’s team lost valuable track position and crossed the finish-line with a 16th place result.

McMurray at Indy: McMurray has made 11 starts at IMS, earning one win (2010), three top-five and five top-10 finishes.  He has completed 1,740 laps out of a possible 1,761 laps (98.8%).  He has led 48 laps, and has an average starting position of 15.6 and an average finishing position of 14.1. McMurray’s best start was fourth in 2010.

Running to the Finish: In his previous 11 starts at IMS, McMurray has been running at the finish of each race, including finishing on the lead lap in 10 of 11 races.  There are only five drivers in the top-10 of the current NSCS point standings that have started 11 races in that same timeframe in the Brickyard 400 and only one of those drivers, Jeff Gordon, has finished on the lead lap more than McMurray.

Kyle Larson and No. 42 Target Team

NHMS Recap: Kyle Larson bounced back in a big way after three tough races with a stellar weekend at New Hampshire Motor Speedway (NHMS), which was capped off by a third place finish in the Camping World RV Sales 301.  Larson posted fast laps all weekend in the Target Chevrolet SS, and was able to use that speed on Sunday to move up 10 spots from 13th, where he qualified and started the race, to secure a third place finish.

Larson at Indy: Larson has one previous start at IMS in Nationwide Series, where he started 17th and raced to a 11th place finish.  Although Larson’s experience at IMS is limited, he raced in and around the area in sprint cars prior to moving to North Carolina and beginning his stock car career.

A Shopping Bullseye:  If you have made it to the race only to find out you’ve forgotten to pack a few necessities, there’s no need to worry.  For all your last minute needs and forgotten items, Target has all of the essentials and more.  The nearest Target is located at 6925 W 38th Street, Indianapolis, Ind. and can be reached at (317) 329-1034.  Call ahead and make sure they have what you need.
