NASCAR Unveils 2015 Nationwide Schedule as FOX and NBC Take Over Television Rights

On Tuesday afternoon, NASCAR unveiled the 2015 NASCAR Nationwide Series schedule.

While there are not any major changes to the schedule – except those coinciding with the Sprint Cup Series schedule changes -the big news was that the FOX family of channels (FOX, FOX Sports, Fox Sports 1, Fox Sports 2) will televise the first 14 races of the season, from the season-opener at Daytona to the June race at Chicagoland. NBC Family of channels (NBC and NBC Sports Network) will televise the rest of the 2015 season. ESPN has been the core TV partner for the Nationwide Series, though this year marks the last year of their contract with NASCAR.

The changes that match the Cup schedule are as follows: Atlanta becomes the second race of the season, Phoenix becomes the fourth race of the season, Darlington races on Labor Day weekend, Bristol moves from mid-March to mid-April in a swap with Auto Club Speedway, while Kansas and Charlotte swap dates in the fall.

  1. Please tell me that with fox picking up some “Nationwide” races that Mikey W. wont be doing those. Nearly all of the fox people are just lackies for nascars idiocy, but Mikey is beyond irritating on the telecast. The truck racing is so much fun but he is a pest. With the cup guys ruining NNS I may just find something else than Mikey.

    • I imagine that the Sprint Cup crew of Mike Joy, Larry Mac and Darrell Waltrip will do the NNS races as when FOX used to have both the Cup and NNS races, the same squad did both races. For when they’re at separate tracks, though, it’ll obviously be different and perhaps you’ll see Mikey fill in a slot.
