RACING AT HOME: Elliott Sadler and the No. 11 OneMain Financial team travel to Sadler’s home state of Virginia this weekend to compete in the NASCAR Nationwide Series event on the 3/4-mile oval track at Richmond International Raceway. In 22 Nationwide Series starts, Sadler has two top-five and nine top-10 finishes and with 77 laps lead. In addition, the veteran driver has 24 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series starts at Richmond.
JUST THE STATS: After 24 races in the 2014 season, Sadler is currently in fourth place in the Nationwide Series driver championship point standings, 48 points back from the lead. The Emporia, Va., native has one win, one pole award, five top-five and 17 top-10 finishes.
LAST RACE: ATLANTA MOTOR SPEEDWAY: Sadler and the No. 11 team qualifiedfifth last week at Atlanta Motor Speedway and battled the car all night. Rain showers before the race changed the track conditions and with multiple mid-race adjustments, the team just couldn’t align the No. 11 to match the changed track condition. Sadler pushed the No. 11 all-night and was able to bring home a top-10 finish.
ELLIOTT SADLER QUOTES: “Earlier this year we definitely had a top three car at the April Richmond race. Unfortunately, towards the closing laps of the race we were tagged in the rear of the car, which caused us to spin in turn one. With no damage to the car we were able to work our way back to the front of the field and finish sixth. Most people know that RIR is my hometown race track. I have yet to win at Richmond and words can not describe how excited I’d be if I could celebrate in Victory Lane with so many of my friends and family in the stands. As a team we will absolutely do all we can to make sure the car will be a rocket for me at my hometown track.”
