CONCORD, N.C., September 8, 2014 – The Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup begins on the track this weekend at Chicagoland Speedway, but Ford Nation can experience all of the intensity and drama of what lies ahead through a series of videos that highlights key elements for winning this year’s championship.
The first installment is entitled “12 Seconds of Fury” and features the pit crews of Roush Fenway Racing as they go through their regular mid-week practice routine. This video gives viewers an up-close look at the traditional pit stop in a more cinematic way than they’re used to seeing on Saturday night or Sunday afternoon.
“We’re thrilled to have won 10 races so far this season and have five of our teams competing for the championship,” said Jamie Allison, director, Ford Racing. “We want the fans of Ford Nation to be energized throughout the Chase, and we feel these videos will be a way of enhancing some of that excitement and anticipation.”
Ford Racing spent one morning capturing all aspects of how Roush Fenway’s NASCAR Sprint Cup Series pit crews prepare for each week’s event. Cameras were mounted on jacks, inside wheel wells and a variety of other places to give Ford Nation a unique look at all of the nuances that take place from start to finish.
“Even though there’s a bigger microscope on what we do this time of year, the pit stops now are just as important as they were in the Daytona 500 at the beginning of the year,” said RFR pit crew coach Rodney Fetters. “You cannot have a misstep. We have to be as picture-perfect as we can be each and every time and have that precision regardless of what’s being asked on any given stop.”
Future series installments will include a look at on-going engine development at the Roush Yates Engine facility and an on-track Chase test session with Team Penske.
