AUSTIN DILLON QUOTES:

New Hampshire Motor Speedway is a flat, one-mile track. What are the challenges, and what do you like about that track?

“I’ve run a ton of laps at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series cars seem to be pretty tough as far as tire wear, and having a car that is good on a long run. It is pretty tough to pass, so track position is big. I’d like to go there and qualify well, because if you qualify well it sets you up for a solid weekend.”

Is qualifying really the key at a place like New Hampshire Motor Speedway?

“Qualifying is definitely a big part of it, but there is a lot of strategy that plays into it as far as long fuel runs and being there at the end. We’ve seen guys who haven’t been running at the front all race long be able to run at the front towards the end of the race at New Hampshire, so it’s an interesting place. You never know, it might be a place to get your first win.”

Last time in Loudon … Menard started 16th for the July event at NHMS and remained in the top 15 for the majority of the 301-lap event. In the closing laps, Menard experienced a loose-handling race car and ultimately finished in the 19th-position.

PAUL MENARD QUOTE:

Talk about racing at New Hampshire Motor Speedway, its a unique track.

“It’s like a big Martinsville Speedway. It has a long straight away with short corners. It’s got kind of a progressive banking in the corners so you run off the bottom. If you get your car working at the bottom, then you maintain and maybe make a pass or two but the majority of guys run the middle which makes it hard to pass.”

Why is Loudon so hard to get a handle of?

“Everybody runs the same speed and it’s extremely hard to pass. Literally, you might have five guys in practice that excel but the rest of the field is running the same speed which makes track position extremely important.”

This Week’s Quicken Loans Chevrolet SS at New Hampshire Motor Speedway … Ryan Newman will drive chassis No. 456 in Sunday’s 300-lap event. Double Duty … Newman will race the 7ny Gary Putnam Racing entry in Saturday’s Whelen Modified Tour event at NHMS. Partners on board with Newman are WIX Filters, Menards and Aggressive Hydraulics.

RYAN NEWMAN QUOTES:

What are your thoughts heading into New Hampshire Motor Speedway?

“New Hampshire is one of our two top-five finishes this year at RCR. I think that is an area that the No. 31 team is focused on fixing. We need more of them if we want to have a shot at being in contention at Homestead. Going back to Loudon, it is one of my best race tracks. It’s a track where I have my most wins and led a lot of laps. I’ve won a bunch of poles there. I also enjoy racing the Modifieds up there and I really look forward to racing there. I think it’s a good track for us especially leading into Dover, the final race of the Challenger Round.”

What are the keys to having a good finish at New Hampshire?

“In my opinion, New Hampshire is a bigger version of Martinsville Speedway. It has the long straightaways and tight corners. It’s a short race and I think that is probably the biggest thing because you have maybe three opportunities on pit road to either gain some spots, or lose some spots, and you need to make the best of that. It’s a different kind of race because the shortness of the race and the number of laps you put on a set of tires.”

BRIAN SCOTT QUOTES:

How do you navigate around Kentucky Speedway?

“Kentucky Speedway is a great track. It has a lot of character and a lot of speed. You don’t have tires fall of nearly as bad as you do at Atlanta Motor Speedway, Richmond International Raceway or Chicagoland Speedway. But you have a ton of bumps and the place is really rough. I really like going there with RCR. This race team seems to have Kentucky Speedway figured out. It’s been a good track historically for them. I know we can go to Kentucky Speedway and have a good run.

Will you do an Austin Dillon belly slide if you win there?

“I would hope to do it more gracefully and not try to scorpion myself with my feet. You know what, celebrating is celebrating. I am confident with our race team right now and our Chevrolet’s, we can go to any of these tracks coming up and have the capabilities of winning.”

Have you leaned on your teammates for help going into Kentucky?

“I haven’t talked with my teammates yet about Kentucky. I don’t want to too early, if I did I’d think too much about what they’ve said before getting a feel for the surface. Protect the Harvest believes that Americans deserve the truth. These extreme groups are intent on restricting the abilities of our food producers who already face the significant challenge of feeding a growing world population. BRENDAN GAUGHAN QUOTE:

What are your thoughts on returning to Kentucky Speedway?

“Statistically, Kentucky Speedway is my best mile-and-a-half race track. I love Kentucky. They have always called it the cookie cutter and it really is one of the only ones left. It is still flat, it still has very little banking and has huge bumps from all of the weather out there. There are just so many things happening to that track, it makes it the 1.5-mile that I look forward to returning to the most because it is so much fun to race.
