Camden Murphy Set For NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Debut

MOORESVILLE, NC – October 22, 2014Eighteen year old driver Camden Murphy of Itasca, Illinois will make his inaugural start in the NASCAR Camping World Truck at Martinsville Speedway on Saturday, October 25th for SS Green Light Racing in the No. 08 Ronald McDonald House Chevy Silverado.

Murphy gained national attention after winning the Midwest Truck Series event at the famed Milwaukee Mile during ARCA Fest back in June taking the lead at the nation’s oldest speedway with a bold three-wide pass with eleven laps to go. Murphy’s racing resume includes an impressive array of experience behind the wheel that drivers twice his age would envy competing at several NASCAR-level tracks including the Milwaukee Mile, the Nashville Superspeedway, Rockingham Speedway and Lucas Oil Speedway in Indianapolis.

A three-time Mini-Cup champion, Murphy finished 2014 with top five finishes in both the Midwest Truck Series and Madison International Speedway Truck Series final point standings. He has also competed in UARA and ASA Truck Tour competition.

Murphy has been working closely with the SS Green light team in preparation for his debut on the Martinsville short track. While Camden has been racing a truck for the past five seasons, he understands racing in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series is a whole new experience. “The trucks are completely different than what I am used to; they are heavier and have more power, which is huge!” said Murphy.

Murphy will be under the watchful eye of NASCAR veteran Bobby Dotter. Murphy knows if he is patient, races smart and brings the truck home clean, he will come out of Martinsville with a good finish. “It’s all about finishing and finishing clean. NASCAR has a strict policy on approval for larger tracks and I hope to have no problem with it,” said Murphy.

The SS Greenlight team is completely behind their talented young driver and feels Murphy will turn a few heads in the Ronald McDonald House No. 08 Silverado. “I’ve been watching Camden for a while, he’s from my hometown (Chicago) and he has been running very well in the Midwest Truck Series” said Dotter. “We were able to work out a deal to give him the opportunity to drive one of our trucks at Martinsville. He’s really a great kid, I think he has some talent and we’re going to try to help him show his ability in the NCWTS.”

Car Doctor, Jr., Mark Signs, and O’Hare Auto body are providing additional support for Murphy’s No 08 Ronald McDonald House Silverado for the Kroger 200.

The Kroger 200 will prelude Sunday’s Goody’s Headache Relief Shot 500 and is the 332nd consecutive NCWTS start for the SS Green Light Racing team, a streak that dates back to 2001.

Practice for the Kroger 200 will be Friday, October 24th from 1:40 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., and 3:00 p.m. to 4:25 p.m. On Saturday, October 25thQualifying will begin at 10: 15 a.m. and the green flag will fly on the Kroger 200 at 1:30 p.m. Eastern time. The race will be shown live on FOX Sports 1 and will also be broadcast via the Motor Racing Network and on SIRIUSXM NASCAR Radio Channel 90.
