TEAM QUOTES:

Texas Motor Speedway: “I’m looking forward to Texas Motor Speedway just more so based on how we have ran at the last couple mile-and-a-half race tracks,” Allmendinger said. “Texas has probably become one of the slicker tracks when it comes to the mile-and-a-half tracks. It’s a fun place to race the No. 47 Clorox Chevrolet SS. It’s fast in qualifying and when the race gets going the track gets really slick and you use the tires up a lot. I feel like we have a couple of good mile-and-a-half race cars that the guys have worked hard on downforce, etc. Again, I’m really looking forward to this one. I feel like we have got a little momentum going into this race after our top-10 finish at Martinsville Speedway. We have got to keep doing the things we’ve been doing.”

Positive outlook on intermediate tracks: “How we have ran at the last few intermediate tracks – Kansas Speedway and Charlotte Motor Speedway – we have really gained some momentum,” crew chief Brian Burns said. “I’ve said it before. Those were typically the type of tracks we struggled at earlier in the season. We have a good feeling going into Texas Motor Speedway that we are going to be good. We are taking our Kansas Speedway car.”

Season summary: “If I had to summarize the season in one word, I would go with fulfillment,” Allmendinger said. “The first win at Watkins Glen International was something that I had worked towards for eight years. I had dreamed about it many times. I’m sure Tad and Jodi (Geschickter) did for 20 years when they started in a barn. This was the peak they wanted to get to and Brad (Daugherty) has been such a big deal to this race team the last five or six years. So, to get the fulfillment of a win together is a pretty big deal and to make the Chase through all the ups and downs. I look at the summer months like they were hard, but it was great to fight back from really what I felt like we were on the edge of falling apart. Everybody was down and to come back and get that win and get into the Chase was awesome – – just to run respectable and to be there. For a full year, it has been fulfilling.”

Silver linings: “It’s our goal to keep getting better and to be a legitimate top-10, top-15 team,” Allmendinger said. “I look at our season with obviously the win being the highlight and being able to make it to the Chase with this new format as another highlight for us. Actually, in the Chase we performed reasonably well. We hope to finish out these last three races strong.”

Looking ahead to Phoenix: “After Texas we have Phoenix (International Raceway) and it’s another place I’ve always enjoyed,” Allmendinger said. “I felt like the first race there this year we had a good car. That was nine months ago so a lot has changed.”

Wrapping the season at Homestead: “I felt like last year that I learned a lot at Homestead-Miami Speedway, even though we had a mechanical failure,” Allmendinger said. “I’m hoping the things I learned will hopefully help me out this time. Hopefully, I can take that knowledge and be better there.”

Being the best: “It’s just trying to get all we can these last three races,” Allmendinger said. “We all know a top-10 finish in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series would be big, but I don’t want that to be the end all. I just want to go and have three solid weeks. If we can do that, we have a shot at least being there in points.”

Last weekend:  “Sunday at Martinsville (Speedway) was maybe one of the best days that we have had all season long,” Allmendinger said. “We were not great to start, but the guys never gave up and just kept fighting. The changes helped the car and the guys had solid pit stops all day. When you can put it all together, that’s the best kind of day. We were able to finish in the top-10 and leave there 10th in points. It makes us look forward to these final races with hopes of finishing the season strong.”
