American Diabetes Association Youth Ambassador Daniel Nash to ”Ride with Ryan”

CONCORD, N.C. (April 28, 2015) – American Diabetes Association Youth Ambassador Daniel Nash will ride along with Roush Fenway Racing driver Ryan Reed during Saturday’s race at Talladega Superspeedway. The No. 16 Lilly Diabetes American Diabetes Association Ford Mustang will carry Nash’s name above the passenger-side window to recognize his work in the diabetes community.

Nash, of Fairbanks, Alaska, is currently 12 years old but was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at age eight.  As an advocate for those living with the disease and in an effort to spread awareness, Nash fundraises for and participates in several events throughout the year such as Step Out®: Walk to Stop Diabetes® and the American Diabetes Association’s Tour De Cure®.

In addition to his charitable work, Nash enjoys playing badminton and guitar, Pokémon, writing stories and taking care of his dog and bearded dragons. He also enjoys playing outside with friends and picking berries.

The ‘Riding with Ryan’ program rolls into its first superspeedway of the year this weekend at Talladega. The name of a Youth Ambassador will be featured on the No. 16 Ford Mustang each weekend for the remainder of the 2015 season.

“It’s an honor to have Daniel ride along on the No. 16 Lilly Diabetes American Diabetes Association Ford Mustang in Talladega this weekend,” said Reed. “The Riding with Ryan program is a great way Drive To Stop Diabetes® recognizes the work that kids like Daniel are doing in their communities to spread awareness and I’m so impressed with all he is doing in his.”

The NASCAR XFINITY Series takes the green flag from Talladega Superspeedway on Saturday, May 2 at 3 p.m. ET on Fox Sports 1 and MRN.
