Beachin’ It…Justin Allgaier and the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) make their second stop of the season at Daytona International Speedway (DIS) on Sunday. Allgaier has three NSCS starts at the 2.5-mile superspeedway. Unfortunately, luck hasn’t been on Allgaier’s side and he’s been involved in accidents in each start. Crew Chief Steve Addington has two wins at DIS, earned in 2008 and 2012.
TradeMark Nitrogen…This weekend the No. 51’s primary sponsor is Tampa, Fla., based TradeMark Nitrogen. TradeMark is a wholesale manufacturer, seller and distributor of bulk commodities for industrial and agricultural customers throughout the United States.
See Justin…On Sunday, July 5 from 4:20 – 4:30 p.m. EDT, Allgaier will appear for a Q&A at the Team Chevy stage located in the DIS Fan Zone.
Sonoma Recap…The NSCS visited wine country last weekend and Allgaier and the No. 51 team completed two practice sessions on Friday at Sonoma Raceway. Saturday’s only track activity was qualifying, and Allgaier earned the 27th starting spot. On Sunday, Allgaier ran as high as sixth but slowed on the track after he unexpectedly ran out of fuel just over the halfway point of the race. After refueling the BRANDT Chevy under green, Allgaier was trapped a few laps down and relegated to a 35th-place finish for HScott Motorsports.

“I like racing at Daytona [International Speedway], especially under the lights. This weekend’s race will feel a little bit different since it’s on a Sunday night. We have a red, white and blue TradeMark Nitrogen paint scheme to go with this weekend’s holiday. I haven’t had the best luck in the Sprint Cup car at Daytona, but it’s not from a lack of effort from the guys. We have great cars from Hendrick and my guys do a great job at the shop getting them prepared for the weekend. Most of all I want us to get the best finish that we can, and for the fans to enjoy the race. Daytona is making a lot of changes to the facility, and it’s neat to watch the transformation.”

“There’s not a whole lot of changes we can make to superspeedway cars once we are at the track. However the car unloads off of the hauler, is what we’ll have for the weekend. We have great equipment from Hendrick Motorsports and their superspeedway program is phenomenal. We really need to avoid the melees and get a solid finish for Harry and TradeMark Nitrogen.”

Spartanburg, S.C. native Steve Addington joined HScott Motorsports in January 2014 as competition director and crew chief for the No. 51 TradeMark Nitrogen Chevrolet SS. Steve comes to the team from Stewart-Haas Racing, where he spent the past two seasons as crew chief on the No. 14 team and earned four wins with Tony Stewart. Addington also served as a Sprint Cup Series crew chief at Team Penske and Joe Gibbs Racing, racking up a total of 20 wins in the series. Addington began his career working on dirt cars and is a former XFINITY Series crew chief. Addington resides in China Grove, N.C. with his wife Katie and has three children.
