This Week’s No. 26 JGL Racing Toyota at Iowa Speedway: Â Matt Wallace will pilot Chassis No. 213 in the US Cellular 250 at Iowa Speedway. This is the same car the younger Wallace drove a few weeks ago at New Hampshire Motor Speedway in his NASCAR debut.
Third New Track in Three Weeks:
Matt will be making his first start at Iowa Speedway on Saturday night and it is the third week in a row that he has raced at a track for the first time.
Two weeks ago, the 19-year old Wallace made his NASCAR XFINITY Series debut and first ever appearance at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. Last week he made his second career start in the ARCA Racing Series and his first ever appearance at Lucas Oil Raceway in Indianapolis. This week in Iowa, Wallace will be making his second career NASCAR XFINITY Series start for JGL Racing in his first visit to the Newton, Iowa track.
Family Affair:
The US Cellular 250 will mark the end of an illustrious career for NASCAR veteran Kenny Wallace – uncle to Matt. This is both and honor and thrill for Matt – son of NASCAR racer Mike Wallace.
“I am very happy for Uncle Kenny ending his career on a high note. It is pretty cool to see him in the No. 20 car and what a way to make the final start of your career. He has had a tremendous impact on the sport.”
“It is pretty cool to be able to race against him for the first time in NASCAR and have it be his final race. I am honored to carry on the Wallace family tradition in the sport and hope I can accomplish the kind of things in racing as my dad and two uncles (Kenny and Rusty).”
Matt’s Thoughts on Iowa:
“I am very excited to be apart of the JGL Racing team once again this week in Iowa. I really appreciate the opportunity they have given me. I worked really well with the team the first time out in New Hampshire and that should help us the second time around.”
