About The Author

I have been inundated with feedback over the past few weeks in reference to my editorial on Michael Waltrip and his run-in with Robby Gordon at NHIS, from fans of both drivers. Additionally, I received an interesting email on my Silly Predictions article. With that in mind, and seeing everyone appreciated reading other fans comments and feedback, I thought I would again share with you some continued thoughts on these articles.

Again, I present the emails just as I received them and provide the email addresses of those readers who gave me permission to share them with you.

Kristy weighed in on my “Can’t Fix Stupid” article with this email.

I wanted to express my pleasure to you on your delightful article about "can't fix stupid", it was one of the most pleasurable articles which I've read in a long time!  It takes real guts to stand up against the "chosen" to express your point of view, and rest assured that there are many many of us out here that agree with you 2000%! We are faced with so much bias in today's world, that I admire someone who has the courage to "bite back"!  Although no one will actually do anything to put an end to this kind of juvenile gibberish, know that you have earned the respect of many many of your fellow fans, though it won't pad your wallet! Job well done and message well given!

              Thank you!

Thank you for writing such a great article about the "idiot" Michael Waltrip.  Someone ought to take your article and shove it in Michael's face...and make him realize just how stupid he was on Inside Nextel Cup. Can't Fix Stupid certainly describes Michael...and as a Robby Gordon fan (who is really tired of hearing other drivers bash him at the drop of a hat....) - someone really should put Michael in his place.  In fact, Inside Nextel Cup should replace him with someone who actually knows something....  Again - thanks for sticking up for Robby - all of his fans really appreciate it.

An unknown Robby Gordon fan wrote…

Is just about the best thing I've read all week.   You ARE my new hero!!!  :)
Thank you so much for seeing what we have all been seeing for a long time!
Thnaks also for writing such a fantastic article.

I know it's way after the fact - I've been out of the loop for a bit ...but I have to speak up about Motor Mouth...  I've been a diehard Robby fan for years, but I'm not afraid to admit it when he makes a bone-head move.  I USED to adore Mikey... but that all changed in ONE day when I was at a testing in Daytona and I got to watch him when no cameras and fans were around.  He is the most rude, pretentious JERK I've ever seen.  No, I won't stay he's stupid - he's smart, VERY smart, in that he knows exactly what he's doing and knows how to manipulate the media to his advantage.  He must have grown up learning to be master manipulator because its what he does best and fans are starting to catch on.  Everyone knows that words are powerful, and until recently, he's used them well (whether negative or positive)...   I think he's finally feeling the ultimate frustration that he's on the last throes of his career and he's lashing out. Enough analyzing!!  I'm so glad you wrote the articles you did, and I love that you posted responses.

THANKS!

Today's column....now that's funny, I don't care who ya are.

PS - you've got Smithson beat by a mile.  He is NOT funny.

Well I see you are taking unwarranted shots @ Waltrip, even though it looks like your boy Dale Jr will be WATCHING the chase yet again from the same position as  Mikey will......from the sofa

Trouble is.....Jr has FACTORY SUPPORT & TONY Jr as his crew chief & Mikey has NO FACTORY BACKING & a low budget crew chief of the week.

I hate toyota, but you will see Waltrip & Jarrett & Mayfield ( 3 of my very favorite drivers )

doing very well next year, & your boy Jr will still be fueding with his cousin & blaming his team like he does so frequently    saying he is dissappointed in his team & that they did not bring a good product to the racetrack on national TV is what I WOULD CALL A MOTOR-MOUTH !!

My response to him:

When MW had factory support he garnered a whopping 4 wins -- he even was given Jr's cars and Jr's cousin as a crew chief and he got ZERO wins that season. If I recall Jr recorded his 17th career win at Richmond this year. Yes, Jr was disappointed that Mikey's teammate went and punted him on the straightaway.

Yes, I'm an Earnhardt fan...but I'm also a journalist who gives NO PREFERENCE when it comes to my writing. You obviously didn't read that this was HUMOROUS or that I said MANY THINGS about MANY drivers.

sure I did.....I read them all...they were moderately amusing, but it is the attitude of jr fans who make some folks NOT like Jr, when maybe they might normally like the guy Jr has those wins because he stepped right into a winning team & mikey EARNED his way into NASCAR without even his brother's help ( who won MORE races than IronHead did )  It is a toally diffrent era now & had Mikey been able to capitalize & market his famous name the way Jr was able to he would have many many wins & maybe a Cup too Jr ought not complain too much since that Blaney deal looked a lot like the 600 when Jr did not punt a teammates former teammate, but PUNTED HIS OWN TEAMMATE WHILE MIKEY WAS RUNNING 5TH !!  Tony Jr may yet wish he had left with waltrip after he sees the empire Mikey is building & gets into the next family-fued with the sometimes childish & always motor-mouthed Dale Jr   I still say Jr really screwed up by calling out his TEAM on national TV sunday.....just wait & see.....

Besides, I just could not believe you would take the side of Robby Gordon ( ie: one of biggest jerks in NASCAR history ) over Mikey you obvioulsy DO GIVE PREFERENCE since Gordon has been %100 wrong in every encounter with Waltrip yet you defnd him  I reckon you thought Jeff Green was innocent last year too ?

look for your email in my next article. I will make sure to print it EXACTLY as I received it.

THATS COOL  why, what happened....did I include a typo ? I will be looking for it

I will commend you on 2 things.....

1) actually responding to a less than complimentary e-mail ( as Duane Cross never does )

2) recognizing my obvious racing knowledge & realizing that pro or con, I will receive lots of feedback

yes, I much prefer your style than that of the nascar . com guys or any of the other major media type "auto racing" reporters  what are you using...the 2nd reply ?  and yes, the young'uns are more important than the racin, but ya gotta take a break & have a little fun sometimes & nascar is my chosen vice  & for the record.....EXCEPT for the snotty comments he makes ABOUT his team from time to time I REALLY do like Dale Jr

I am now looking for reader response or suggestions on what to do about the NASCAR schedule. Email me with your thoughts – which tracks should/should not be in the Chase. Do you feel that any other changes should be made to the schedule? I am working on an article about this topic and I hope to include some feedback with it. Remember I reserve the right to reprint any email I receive, and if you want me to print your email address please state as such in the feedback.
