About Passin’ & Sassin’ - The origins
The idea for this
column originated between Chris Campbell and Shannon Poe when they
realized that they corroborated well together. The two of them had
daily chats discussing and debating pertinent NASCAR issues and
controversial topics. Soon it became apparent that a weekly debate
column would be the ultimate way to share these opinions and ideas.
Thus, this opinion commentary was born. Subsequently, it was made a
group debate to further expand the playing field. In choosing a
moniker for this venture, the group focused on a little known flag
within the NASCAR circuit. Much like the group, this flag was
uncommon but quite important in the grand scheme of the race. The
flag is displayed admonishing cars a lap or more down to make way
for the leaders. Passin’ & Sassin’ felt their message was similar to
this sentiment. The column has been developing over the past few
months and hopefully will continue to improve to the standards set
by the members. The ultimate goal is to achieve the epitome of
informative editorial writing desired by readers like you. It is the
intent of this staff of writers to capture your attention, evoke
emotion, and provoke you to take action.
About Chris Campbell
I am a fan of all
sports, but most passionate about NASCAR. I am a mother of four
children and raising the two youngest to be die-hard NASCAR fans.
Currently I hold a double Associates Degree, Bachelors Degree, and I
have begun study on my Master’s degree. A fan since the early 90’s,
I have been able to attend a few races, but would love to attend
more. I manage my own internet email group for racing which is how I
came to know Shannon and Froggie. I have written for other NASCAR
websites before finding a better fit here on Speedway media. My
personal feeling is that writing can constantly improve utilizing
constructive criticism to expand my knowledge of NASCAR. It improves
me not only as a fan, but also as a writer and conveyor of the fan’s
opinions on the sport. My personal motto for many years has been: I
write to make you think, I write to make you feel, and I write to
provoke you to take action.
About Shannon Poe
I reside in
Central Virginia, with my husband and beloved black labs. As a life
long fan of the Washington Redskins, I followed Coach Joe Gibbs into
the sport and became a NASCAR enthusiast in the early 90's. Quickly
hooked I developed an insatiable need for speed that has never let
go. I began writing opinion commentary in 2003 on my own Internet
blog, and subsequently wrote several freelance articles for smaller
NASCAR related sites, before finding a home at Speedway Media in the
spring 2005. NASCAR is a colorful sport full of diverse
personalities, and I believe the world that writes about NASCAR
should be as well.
About Christina "Froggie" Ribbeck
For as long as I
can remember, racing was always a part of our family. As a child, I
was fascinated with the sport. The fascination dimmed slightly
through my teen years, which I now regret. I have been an avid
NASCAR fan since 1999. I met Chris and Shannon through Chris' email
group. They approached me about being a member of Passin’ & Sassin’,
and I jumped at the chance. Although I work full time and life does
sometimes get in the way, I could not pass on this wonderful
opportunity. NASCAR is a passion for me; some might say an
obsession. I cannot think of a better way to express my thoughts
than through this column. Thank you to everyone who has read our
hard work and I hope you continue to read and let us know your
thoughts as well. |
