FORT WORTH, Texas (June 13, 2007) – Statement from Texas Motor Speedway President Eddie Gossage regarding today’s announcement that Dale Earnhardt Jr. will join Hendrick Motorsports in the 2008 NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series.

“With Dale Earnhardt Jr. joining Jeff Gordon and Jimmie Johnson at Hendrick Motorsports it is like Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson and Larry Bird playing together in their prime,” said Gossage. “The problem is to satisfy all three and that could be difficult. Every time one of them runs better than the others, human nature will make them question if the team is providing them with the same chance to win. This could spiral out of control. But if anyone can manage three huge names on the same team, it’s Rick Hendrick.”
