Bodine
holds off Busch and wins at Daytona
Todd Bodine held off charges from Kyle
Busch and Johnny Benson on the final lap
to win Friday's Craftsman Truck Series
Chevy Silverado 250 at Daytona
International Speedway.
This was Bodine’s 13th career Craftsman
Truck Series victory. “I tell you, this
is my 20th year coming to this
speedway. Three as a crew member and 17
as a driver. Seventeen years, and we
finally got there.” said Bodine.
This win was Bodine’s second consecutive
on a superspeedway victory. He won at
Talladega in October.
Busch finished just eight-hundredths of
a second behind. Benson finished third,
David Starr fourth and Rick Crawford
finished fifth.
Pole-sitter Erik Darnell was contending
for the win with 15-laps to go until he
slowed down coming off turn four to head
back to pit road and got hit from behind
by Justin Marks. The heavy damage sent
him behind the wall and out of the race.
Defending Truck Series champion Ron
Hornaday saw his night ended on lap 44
when his truck started smoking.
On lap 20, the “big one” came out when
Busch, Mike Skinner, Brendan Gaughan,
Andy Lally, Jon Wood, Chad Chaffin and
Matt Crafton all were involved in a
multi-truck crash that ended with P.J.
Jones climbing out of his truck, which
was in flames in the infield.
