Here
we are heading into the
ninth race of the season
and Hendrick Motorsports
finally gets a win. What
a difference a year can
make. This week fans are
still buzzing about Dale
Earnhardt Jr. and his
continued winless
streak, the COT platform
making NASCAR boring,
and FOX Sports dumping
NASCAR in favor of
baseball!?
When will
Dale Earnhardt Jr.
finally get a win in a
points event?
A magical crystal
ball is the only thing
that can answer this
question for sure. But a
win for Junior could
come as early as in two
weeks at Talladega, or
fans could be waiting
until mid-summer.
Juniors best shot for a
win will most likely
come in two weeks at
Talladega. We have seen
how Junior can drive on
restrictor plate tracks.
Now that Junior is
paired up with Hendrick
Motorsports, who always
runs well at Talladega,
Junior could be well on
his way to a win.
What will be
interesting to watch is
how Junior works with
his new teammates at Hendrick. If there is
two laps to go and
Jimmie Johnson is
leading while Junior is
in second, will he pull
out and make a move? I
cannot answer for
Junior, but the answer
will most likely be YES.
He is starving for a win
to make his fans happy
and get the media circus
off of his back.
Should
NASCAR move back to the
old car to make the
racing more exciting?
The simple answer is
NO. This COT platform
has not even had a full
season under its belt
and fans are already
saying that the racing
is boring, so they
demand for a change. You
have to give these
things some time. It’s
not going to be an
instant success.
Not only are the fans
complaining, but some of
the drivers want changes
too. My message to the
drivers is LIVE WITH IT.
So the COT does not
drive as well. You are
being paid millions of
dollars to drive a race
car. Most people who
take being a NASCAR
driver for a living over
working their current
job any day. The drivers
just need to live with
the changes and get use
to it. NASCAR has
already announced they
will not be making any
changes to the COT in
the near future.
It is new for some
drivers that they
actually have to drive
the race car now,
instead of leaving it up
to the crew to fix when
the car handles poorly.
Why did
FOX Sports screw up the
start of the Phoenix
race?
Has FOX Sports hit a
nerve with sports fans
or what? This has been a
topic of heated
discussion all over the
NASCAR and baseball
forums. Some fans are
furious. Most fans know
by now that FOX Sports
missed the waving of the
green flag last Saturday
night due to a rain
delayed baseball game.
After doing some
research on the
situation here is what I
found out. FOX Sports
tried their best to
please both NASCAR fans
and baseball fans. But
what actually happened
was they made both side
furious. You have to
give FOX credit for
trying to deliver good
coverage to both sides.
What is amazing is
what some fans are
saying on the internet.
We missed a half lap of
racing. Most people miss
more than that by taking
a bathroom break or
getting something to
eat. Would it have been
nice to see the pre-race
activities? Yes it would
have. But it is not the
end of the world. FOX
didn’t cause physical
harm to anyone.
FOX Sports is human.
They made a mistake. We
all make mistakes, and
we learn from them.
Trust me. FOX has
learned a big lesson
after last weekends
debacle.
