Denny
Hamlin won his sixth
career NASCAR Nationwide
Series Lipton Tea 250 on
Friday night at Richmond
International Raceway
and gives Joe Gibbs
Racing its fifth
straight victory.
“Days like this are
hard to come by. This is
my biggest
accomplishment as a race
car driver in my career,
winning here at
Richmond. We didn't have
the best car all day,
but we did when it
counted.” Hamlin said.
Hamlin only led 12 of
the 253 total laps run
in route to his first
hometown track win and
his first win of the
season in the Nationwide
Series. Hamlin grew up
in Chesterfield, about
15 minutes away.
After a late caution
flag, there was only 4
laps to go. The race was
restarted with a
green-white-checkers
finish and Hamlin was
able to hold off Kevin
Harvick and Kyle Busch.
Harvick led 98 laps
but finished second.
Busch and Wallace
traded paint on the
final laps and that
resulted into a heated
confrontation on pit
road. They both traded
insults. “Basically,
he's a boy trying to
play in a man's sport.
We're going to fight if
it comes down to it. If
that's the kind of game
he wants to play, we'll
play it.” Busch said.
“If you’re going to say
stuff like that, why
don't you come down and
say it to my face.”
Wallace replied.
Busch finished third,
David Regan fourth, and
Steve Wallace finished
fifth.
