Tony Stewart started
eighth and recorded his
fifth NASCAR Nationwide
Series victory on the
season and his first
Nationwide Series race at
New Hampshire Motor
Speedway on Saturday.
Stewart led twice for 75
laps in his Joe Gibbs
Racing No. 20 Old Spice
Camry.
Stewart was out front
when Greg Biffle spun on
lap 199 and the race
ended under caution.
But a pit stop on 129
for a two tire stop
allowed him to gain
track positions and
restart the race in
third place. “Our last
stop on lap 129 is what
won the race for us.”
said Stewart.
Crew chief Dave Rogers
made the call. “He's
behind every one of
these wins this year. We
were about two changes
away from getting it
right. I give Dave so
much credit. He knows
when you tell him that
we have a long way to go
that he's not afraid to
make a big change.
That's what won us the
race today.”
Denny Hamlin finished
second, Kyle Busch
third, Kevin Harvick
fourth and Carl Edwards
finished fifth.
“We had a good run. We
had a good car all day.
It's just track
position. We had one bad
pit stop that put us
back four or five spots
after we already gained
them all under green.”
Hamlin said.
“The Z-Line Designs
Toyota was able to bring
home a third and not a
mark on it. Fortunately,
that was the first time
in a few races that we
haven't crashed once so
that was good. We'll
take it and go on to the
next one.” Busch said.
Clint Bowyer holds the
points lead over David
Reutimann by 182 points.
