Denny Hamlin held off
Kyle Busch on Friday
night at Daytona
International Speedway
in the Nationwide Series
Winn-Dixie 250 and won
his third NNS victory of
the 2008 season.
Hamlin started 17th and
led three times for 29
laps in his Joe Gibbs
Racing No. 20 Hardee's/Coca-Cola
Camry. This was the No.
20 cars ninth victory of
the season and the 13th
for JGR (Hamlin-3,
Busch-4, Logano-1 and
Stewart-5).
“No matter who gets in
that thing, they seem to
win.” said Busch who
finished second.
Dale Earnhardt Jr., who
finished third, was
confused as to who was
driving the Joe Gibbs
Racing No. 20 car. He
thought Tony Stewart wad
driving as he
congratulated Stewart
with the win until he
found out Hamlin was
driving. “You could
take that several
different ways. I think
honestly a lot of the
confusion is because
it's the same colors as
what Tony usually runs.
I don't know. My head is
a lot smaller than his.
I don't know. You could
take it as I was driving
a lot like Tony, which
is a compliment in my
eyes.” Hamlin said.
Hamlin had a comfortable
lead over teammate Busch
until a late race spin
by rookie Colin Braun
spun. This setup a
green-white-checkers
finish. Hamlin got a
great restart and Busch
was never able to make a
run. “I’ve got to thank
Kyle for sticking with
me right there in the
end.” Hamlin said.
Clint Bowyer finished
fourth and Brad
Keselowski finished
fifth. Bowyer has a 202
point lead over
Keselowski in the series
standings
