Ambrose
finds victory lane |

Ambrose qualified in
12th position in the #59
STP Ford Fusion and came
to the front on Saturday
to win his first career
NASCAR Nationwide Series
victory and his first at
Watkins Glen
International in the
Zippo 200.
With 12 laps to go
Ambrose was in third
position. Then leaders
Jeff Burton and Jimmie
Johnson were forced to
pit for fuel, giving
Ambrose the race lead.
“Gary’s (Crew Chief Gary
Cogswell) came on board
and turned our
Nationwide program
around. He came on after
six races, we were in a
real mess, and here we
are, halfway through the
year, with a win. So,
I’ve got to thank Gary,
Tad and Jodi [Geschickter,
team co-owners] for
plucking me out of
nowhere.” Ambrose said.
Ambrose held off
Busch in route to his
first win and became the
first Australian to earn
a NASCAR victory. “It
sure is fantastic. It
feels like I've got a
huge load off my
shoulder.” said Ambrose.
Ambrose has made 83
total NASCAR starts, 22
in the Craftsman Truck
Series, 59 in the
Nationwide Series and
two in the Sprint Cup
Series. Ambrose will
also race full-time in
the NASCAR Sprint Cup
Series with JTG
Daugherty Racing.
Matt Kenseth finished
third, Kevin Harvick
fourth and polesitter
Dario Franchitti
finished fifth.
Bowyer finished 23rd
and maintains a
128-point lead over
second-place Brad
Keselowski.
