Ron Hornaday took the
lead after a restart
with 42 laps remaining
in Saturday’s Craftsman
Truck Series race at New
Hampshire Motor Speedway
and went on to win
back-to-back races.
Though he had a lot of
distractions coming into
this weekends race after
admission of
testosterone use,
Hornaday was able to put
that aside and dominate
the race. “I’ve got to
thank all the race fans.
They are so
unbelievable. The
support they’ve given me
this week.” Hornaday
said. Hornaday also
said that he used a
testosterone cream
during ‘04 and ‘05
seasons to treat a
medical and later said
that he had Grave’s
disease.
This was his fifth
victory of the season
and the 38th
of his truck series
career.
Johnny Benson finished
second and holds a 74
point lead in the series
standings. “This is a
pretty tough program. I
am real proud of the
guys and they were able
to run second. The guys
have been doing a great
job.” Benson said.
After the race David
Starr and Todd Bodine
got into it on pit
road. Starr spun out
Bodine with 7 laps to
go. After the race
Bodine tapped Starr and
tempers flared on pit
road. Driver and crews
had to be separated by
officials.
“From a veteran driver
like Todd, I had the
inside. Here at Loudon,
you can't run into the
corner too deep. If you
run into the corner too
deep, you're going to
run up and hit him. I
got off the gas early,
they had the momentum on
the outside and Todd cut
down on me. He cut down
on me and turned into
me, that's why we got
together.” said Starr.
“I don't have a problem
with a driver coming
over and wanting to come
over and talk to me, but
a crew member coming
over and putting a
finger in my face?
That's a totally
different deal.” said
Starr.
“First of all, I want
everybody to know that
David Starr is a good
person. He's a great guy
and a lot of fun to hang
out with. Did he do it
on purpose? No, I know
he didn't. The problem
is that he had a really
good truck, and David,
when he has a pretty
good truck, has the
tendency to drive a
little bit beyond the
means of the truck. My
crew was a little upset,
obviously. He didn't
take one of our trucks
out, he took both of
them out. He took my
teammate out exactly the
same way.” Bodine said.
Travis Kvapil finished
third, Erik Darnell
fourth and Rick Crawford
finished fifth.
