TERRY COOK, No. 60 Wyler
Racing Toyota Tundra, Wyler
Racing Qualified: 2nd How
did your truck respond in
practice today? Do you think
it's a truck that can draft
well? "I thought it was a
better race truck than a
qualifying truck. I knew it
wouldn't hold up for the
pole. There were a couple of
trucks that are pretty quick
for the pole speed. I
definitely thought that was
a top-10 effort. As long as
I can see the front tomorrow
I think we've got a shot at
it and that is all you can
ask for when you come down
to Daytona." Do you think
you sacrificed too much
handling for the speed you
wanted to qualify at and
start at the front? "I think
we are pretty well-balanced
because I think we brought a
truck that is racy enough
that it wants to lead. All
day long and all of testing
the truck just sucks up so
well and just pretty much
drives around everyone at
will. If you want to come
down here and get the pole
you can definitely do that.
You can bring a slippery
truck here. I've had that
before and I have gotten the
pole here before and they
don't race very well. I
think we have got a
compromise and the best of
both worlds. It is pretty
slippery and it drives well
and you can't ask for more
than that."
MIKE SKINNER, No. 5
Toyota Tundra, Bill Davis
Racing Qualified: 3rd Are
you satisfied with the
qualifying run? "Our Tundra
is not very fast but it
drafts really, really good.
We've got a good piece. I
can't wait until tomorrow
night. We had no tire
troubles and a lot of guys
are having tire troubles.
The balance is pretty good
on it's good in the draft.
It is not super, super fast,
but in the draft it's really
stable and really good so I
can't wait." How much speed
did you sacrifice for a
better handling truck? "That
is what it ran earlier today
so that is about what we
expected. I didn't really
think there would be a whole
lot more speed because of
the weather. We put a little
more tape on it and it
really didn't run any
faster. That is just all it
had. At least it backed up
what it ran today. The truck
is really, really good in
the draft. I'm pretty
excited about tomorrow.
We've got a good piece."
What kind of race do you
think we are going to see
tomorrow night? "The
Craftsman Truck Series at
Daytona -- all you have to
do is rewind the tape. It's
always awesome here. It
seems to have a good
reputation for good finishes
and a lot of excitement. I
just hope if we are in the
excitement it's there toward
the end of the race."
JUSTIN MARKS, No. 9
Construct Corps Toyota
Tundra, Germain Racing
Qualified: 8th Are you happy
with how your truck has been
in practice and qualifying?
"I think it's pretty good.
It's a little bit hard to
tell just because when you
are out there by yourself
you don't really know.
Things felt good. We are
trying to set the thing up
just so it is a little bit
tight, because we think it's
going to loosen up during
the race. You have got what
you have got for qualifying.
I'm just happy about how
that Tundra drove in the
draft today so I'm looking
forward to tomorrow." What
did you do in testing and
practice to prepare you for
your Truck Series debut at
Daytona? "We just focused a
lot in the testing and
coming down here in practice
and everything to try to get
the Construct Corps Tundra
driving well in the draft
and bringing the drivability
to it. I think we've got a
great race truck and we have
a good teammate in Todd
Bodine hopefully to work
with a little bit. We will
just kind of just see how it
comes to us. We will run a
conservative race and see
where we are at with 10 or
15 laps to go."
