After a strong
performance in the
2008 NASCAR
Craftsman Truck
Series (NCTS) season
opener last Friday
night at Daytona
International
Speedway, veteran
NASCAR driver Jason
White prepares to
enter Saturday
afternoon’s San
Bernardino County
200 vowing to prove
that the team’s
performance was no
fluke.
With the support of
his SS-Green Light
Racing team, White
is itching to net
his first career
top-10 NCTS finish
in his first trip to
the two-mile oval of
California Speedway.
A mechanical failure
forced a
disappointing 22nd
place finish for
White and Company
after hovering in
the top-five last
weekend at Daytona
but the effort does
give the
Mooresville,
North Carolina
team confidence that
their 2008 season
has a bright future.
The journey
continues on
Saturday afternoon.
White will make his
31st
career NCTS start on
Saturday afternoon
and his second under
the SS-Green Light
Racing banner
carrying sponsorship
from
GunBroker.com.
Former NASCAR
Craftsman Truck
Series champion Mike
Bliss will pilot a
second SS-Green
Light Racing entry
on Saturday behind
the wheel of the No.
07 ASI Limited
Chevrolet Silverado.
Attached are some
notes and quotes
heading into
Saturday’s event:

WHITE: (RECAPPING
DAYTONA)
“I have mixed
feelings. We had a
phenomenal truck,
just didn’t have the
break we were
looking for. You
cannot always
control a mechanical
failure, but we were
able to return to
the racetrack and
take the checkered
flag. On the other
hand, I feel that we
turned some heads
and really put
ourselves in
position to be
strong contenders
all season long.”
WHITE: (ON HIS FIRST
TRIP TO
CALIFORNIA
SPEEDWAY)
“I’m remaining
optimistic but I’m
awfully excited
about the race on
Saturday. I’ve never
been to California
Speedway but I’ve
been informed it has
similar
characteristics to
Michigan
International
Speedway (MIS), a
track that I have
competed on before.
Practice is so
important for our
GunBroker.com
Dodge this weekend.
It’s important for
us to obtain as much
practice time as
possible so I can
get familiar with
the track so we can
be ready to go for
the San Bernardino
County 200.”
WHITE: (ON BANKING
HIS PRIOR EXPERIENCE
AT MICHIGAN
INTERNATIONAL
SPEEDWAY
WILL TRANSFER OVER
TO
CALIFORNIA
SPEEDWAY)
“I know the tracks
are very similar. As
a driver that is a
good thing. I’m sure
that
California
will have its own
character though.
I’m hoping that the
track has the
similar features
that
Michigan
sports. I’m also
banking that the
changes and setup
that you can utilize
at
Michigan
are doable in
California.
It’s a wait and see
game. I’ll let you
know after
qualifying.”
WHITE: (ON THE RULE
CHANGES FOR THE 2008
SEASON)
“I really feel it’s
going to make the
racing even better
than it has been in
recent years. I also
feel that the
changes have the
capabilities of
putting much of the
circuit in the same
playing-field.
Saturday’s race will
be the first real
test and I’m anxious
to see the results
for myself.”
WHITE: (ON CREW
CHIEF DOUG HOWE)
“The communication
is there. I really
enjoy working with
Doug and I feel that
everyone will begin
to see just how well
we are gelling with
the results on the
track. Doug has
faith in me and I
have faith in him.
He knows what I’m
looking for in the
GunBroker.com
machine and that
makes me feel
comfortable every
time I climb in the
seat.”
WHITE: (ON HIS
SS-GREEN LIGHT
RACING TEAM)
“I am so proud of my
team. They work hard
in the shop every
day and show up at
the race track
giving more than 100
percent. As a driver
it’s important to
have a team that is
behind you. I feel
very lucky. I would
like nothing more
than reward the team
and sponsor
GunBroker.com
with a top-10 finish
Saturday to
personally thank
them for all their
hard work and
support. It
definitely doesn’t
go unnoticed.”
WHITE: (ON THE 2008
NASCAR CRAFTSMAN
TRUCK SERIES SEASON)
“I have a feeling
that this is going
to be a good year.
This team wants to
win and run up
front. I have no
reservation that we
can get the job done
on a weekly basis. I
just want to thank
SS-Green Light
Racing and my
sponsor
GunBroker.com
for their entire
support heading into
the second race of
the season. It means
so much. The NASCAR
Craftsman Truck
Series continues to
boast the best
racing in NASCAR
right now in my mind
and I’m just proud
to be apart of it.”
