BROOKLYN,
Mich. (March 17, 2008) –
Michigan International
Speedway has announced a
partnership with
LifeLock®, the industry
leader in identity theft
prevention to present
the LifeLock 400, NASCAR
Sprint Cup Series race
at MIS on Sunday, June
15. The Father’s Day
race will kick off the
track’s 40th season of
racing.
LifeLock
is partnering with MIS
to shed light on the
fastest growing crime in
America, identity theft.
The Federal Trade
Commission recently
reported that the number
of reported cases of
identity theft increased
16% from 2006 to 2007.
“Since
our sponsorship of the
NASCAR Sprint Cup Series
race at the end of last
season, we have been
looking for another
opportunity to bring our
prevention message to
the fans, teams and
corporate sponsors of
NASCAR,” said Todd
Davis, LifeLock CEO and
founder. “The Father’s
Day event at Michigan
International Speedway
is one of the most
meaningful stops of the
year for teams, the
largest annual sporting
event in the state and
the perfect place for
LifeLock to get
reconnected with the
sport.”
Located
in a secure facility in
Tempe, Arizona, LifeLock
enables “locks” by
setting and
automatically renewing
fraud alerts with the
major credit bureaus,
removing member names
from junk mail lists and
guaranteeing the service
with a $1 million
service guarantee.
Recently, LifeLock has
added an additional
service to all clients –
free of charge – called
WalletLock™. WalletLock
works to cancel and
replace all documents
and personal identifying
information inside a
wallet if it is lost or
stolen.
“We’re
thrilled to partner with
a proactive, respected
company like LifeLock to
host the LifeLock 400,”
MIS President Roger
Curtis said. “The race
fans at Michigan
International Speedway
are true extensions of
this facility; they’re
not just consumers –
they make MIS what it
is. LifeLock understands
the importance of a
patron and the constant
commitment you must have
to them.”
Since
beginning operations in
April of 2005, LifeLock
has held minor
sponsorship deals in
NASCAR with Rusty
Wallace Incorporated,
McClure Motorsports and
BAM Racing. In September
2007, LifeLock made its
first foray into NASCAR
event sponsorship by
presenting the LifeLock
400 at Kansas Speedway.
The company also serves
as a sponsor in the Indy
Racing League with
Rubicon Racing, the IRL
Pro Series with Sam
Schmidt Motorsports and
with Playboy Racing in
the Grand American Rolex
Sports Car Series and
the Grand-Am Cup Series.

13-15 weekend include

Craftsman Truck Series
race on June 14. The
season concludes Aug.
