NASCAR Truck Series
Race 5 of 25 — Kansas
Speedway
Been There From the
Start:
Ron Hornaday has competed
in a NASCAR race at Kansas
Speedway every year since
the track opened in 2001. He
competed in the first
Nationwide Series race at
Kansas Speedway in 2001 and
ran his first truck race
there in 2005, driving the
No. 6 GM Goodwrench
Chevrolet Silverado for
Kevin Harvick, Inc. (KHI).
This year marks Hornaday’s
fourth NASCAR Truck Series
start and eighth overall at
Kansas Speedway.
KHI Officially Welcomes
VFW with Celebration:
On Thursday, March 27,
2008, Kevin Harvick Inc. (KHI)
and Veterans of Foreign Wars
of the United States (VFW)
officially began their
partnership with an event on
the grounds of KHI in
Kernersville, North
Carolina. The event,
“Celebrate Our Heroes”,
served as the VFW’s
introduction to NASCAR
racing. VFW invited guests
from nearby Fort Bragg, NC
local veterans as well as
VFW VIPs and government
officials to participate in
the special day. KHI
co-owners Kevin and DeLana
Harvick were on-hand for the
festivities along with
drivers Ron Hornaday and
Cale Gale. After the new
paint schemes were unveiled,
guests were given tours of
the KHI facilities and
treated to a pit stop
demonstration performed by
one of KHI’s pit crews.
KHI And VFW “Band”
Together To Support Our
Troops:
To show support for
America’s Armed Forces,
members of KHI’s teams have
been wearing red bracelets
provided by VFW. The
bracelet has the phrase “I
Support Our Troops” along
with “VFW” inscribed onto
it. To join the millions of
Americans who are “banding
together” in a show of unity
to support our troops or to

“America Bands Together”
campaign, visit www.vfw.org.
From The Driver’s Seat –
Quotes From Ron Hornaday:
On Kansas Speedway:
“Kansas Speedway is a pretty
new track for the NASCAR
Truck Series. I have only
been in three truck races
there, so we’re still
learning different things
about the track. Turn three
at Kansas can be slippery if
the sun is out and the track
temperature is hot. One of
the main things you have do
if you want a good run there
is get through turn three
without any trouble.”
On KHI’s Partnership With
VFW, Headquartered in Kansas
City, MO.: “It’s an honor to
be able to represent the
VFW, the veterans and all
the men and women who are
overseas fighting for our
freedom everyday. I got to
go over to Iraq a few years
ago and I’ll tell you the
media, CNN, nothing can do
any justice for what those
soldiers are going through
over there.”
Atop The Pit Box – Quotes
from Rick Ren:
On last year’s top-1o
finish at Kansas Speedway:
“Last year in this race, we
had a really good truck. We
started eighth and were
running really good. Then we
got hit with a penalty on
pit road and went an entire
run running a lap down. But
we were able to get back on
the lead lap and ended up
finishing sixth. It turned
out to be pretty good day.”
On whether or not the
different tires that will be
used at Kansas will have an
effect on the track: “I
don’t remember there being a
rubber compatibility issue
last year at Kansas. IRL
runs a Firestone tire, we
run a Goodyear tire and ARCA
runs a Hoosier tire. This
year, we are going to be
running a different tire
than we did there last year,
so we really don’t know yet
if that will be the case
this time. The tire that we
will run is the same tire we
had out in Fontana earlier
this year.”
Previously at
Martinsville:
Ron Hornaday and the KHI
No. 33 team scored their
third consecutive top-10
finish of the season in the
Kroger 250 at Martinsville
(Va.) Speedway in the most
recent Truck Series race on
March 29, 2008. Hornaday
started third and led three
laps early in the race
before running in the top-10
for most of the race. After
spending extra time in the
pits for front-end repairs
on the last round of pit
stops, he made a late charge
from the 27th position with
100 laps to go to and
crossed the finish line in
the eighth position.
