DJ Kennington and the
MacDonald Motorsports crew
hit Richmond Virginia with
mixed emotions after last
weekend's finish at
Talladega. Richmond, a track
that Kennington has
experience at (only 3rd race
of 11 this season) has been
a thorn in his side with no
finish better 37th in his
career.
The #81 Vector
Security/MC2 Energy Drink/N.P.P./Marriott
Dodge was very tight inthe
last practice right before
qualifying for Friday night.
"We got a horrible draw for
qualifying, going out first
in the heat of the day",
stated Kennington. "We
loosened the car up quite a
bit and I drove in a little
hot into one and didnt
stick. That messed up lap
one and ultimately lap two
and we qualified 39th."
Not to let a bad
qualifying lap get the team
down, DJ and the Vector
Security crew went to work
at the drop of the green
flag and quickly moved up
into 29th.
"It is so hard to pass
here and with Carl Edwards
setting the pace that he
did, we went down two laps
during the 70 lap green flag
run as well as half the
field." Kennington continued
to claw his way through
positions and at the close
of the event, finished 27th.
"It was a decent day for
us as we gained on some
teams infront of us in the
standings and didnt lose any
to those behind us. I really
look forward to the next
race at Darlington with MC2
Energy Drink/The Fighting
Illini and The UNLV Runnin
Rebels on the 81." Along
with Vector Security, N.P.P.
, STP Tools and Mahindra
Tractors, I feel we have a
great chance at a strong
finish at the "Lady in
Black" on Friday night.
