No points, all pride
on the line at Lowe’s
this weekend
CONCORD, N.C. -- Elliott
Sadler and the No. 19
Stanley Tools Dodge team
hope posting the fastest
time in Sprint Cup
testing this month
translates into a strong
performance in
Saturday’s NASCAR Sprint
Cup Showdown and propels
them in to the All-Star
Race in Charlotte.
With 21 drivers
currently locked into
the All-Star Race,
Sadler and the Rodney
Childers-led Gillett
Evernham Motorsports
team need to race their
way in by finishing
first or second in the
Showdown; or garnering
the most fan votes for
drivers not already
eligible for the
non-points spectacle.
Elliott Sadler
Quotes
“We’re going for the
Showdown win to get in.
“These races are
exciting for two
reasons. First, there
are absolutely no points
on the line so you can
make some moves you
normally wouldn’t during
a regular race. You just
have to be careful you
don’t put yourself in a
situation where you win
the Showdown, but don’t
have enough car to start
the All-Star Race.
“Second, the crew guys
have all kinds of family
and friends in town and
they want to do well in
front of them. That’s
where the pride factor
comes in to play.
Everyone wants to get
into the All-Star Race
and win.
“As far as the Fan Vote,
I would like you to
select my name for only
one reason – my crew. I
have been in five
All-Star Races before,
but not all of my crew
has experienced the
energy from that race.
They have worked very
hard to build great cars
this year. So, if you
could vote me in for my
team; that would be
great.”
Rodney Childers
Quotes
“We had an awesome test
at Lowe’s, we had the
fastest time after two
days and we feel pretty
good about this weekend.
So, I told them to
forget Darlington and
let’s go win us that $1
million by making it
into the All-Star Race
through the Showdown.”
Fast Facts: In
his five previous
All-Star Races 2001 -
2005, Sadler’s best
finish was second in
2005. Best start was
fourth place, that same
year. Last year, Sadler
started 24th
and finished 23rd
in the Showdown after
getting caught up in a
three-car accident on
lap 20.
Car Info: The No.
19 team will use GEM No.
