CONCORD, N.C. (June 4, 2008) - On October 6, 2002, Roush Fenway Racing driver Jamie McMurray made his Sprint Cup Series debut when he filled in for the injured Sterling Marlin. Almost six years later, McMurray will make his 200th Sprint Cup Series start this weekend at Pocono Raceway. In 199 races, McMurray has racked up two wins, 25 top fives, 66 top-10 finishes, and three Sprint Cup poles. McMurray’s first win came in just his second start; with win number two coming at the famed Daytona International Speedway on start 168.

“It’s hard to believe that I’m making my 200th Cup start this weekend at Pocono,” said McMurray. “What’s harder to believe is there are guys like Ricky Rudd who have made over 900 Cup starts. I feel like I have been racing for a long time in the Sprint Cup series, but when you look at guys like him and Rusty (Wallace) it makes you realize that you haven’t been doing it for that long.

“I’d have to say that to this point, the win last summer at Daytona would be the biggest highlight of my career. I can remember going to Daytona when I was a kid to race go-karts. Daytona is like Indy, it’s a place where every driver wants to win.”

Along with two wins and numerous top fives and top-10 finishes, McMurray also was named the 2003 Raybestos Rookie of the Year.

In support of McMurray’s 200th Sprint Cup start, the No. 26 IRWIN Industrial Tools Ford Fusion will carry a special “200” decal on the lower hood in this weekend’s Pocono 500.

“It’s pretty cool that IRWIN wanted to put a ‘200’ decal on the car for this weekend’s race. It was their idea to run the decal, and acknowledge this special occasion.”
