Joey Logano scored his
first-career NASCAR
Nationwide Series (NNS)
victory Saturday night at
Kentucky Speedway. The win
comes in his third NNS
start. Logano started from
the pole and led five times
for 76 laps in the No. 20
GameStop Toyota Camry for
Joe Gibbs Racing. At 18
years and 21 days, Logano
became the youngest winner
in Nationwide Series
history. The win is the 11th
of the season for Toyota in
NNS competition, and seventh
for the No. 20 Camry (four
different drivers). Mike
Wallace finished third in
the No. 7 GEICO Toyota Camry
for Germain Racing, his best
result of the season. Other
Toyota drivers in the field
included David Reutimann
(13th), James Buescher
(14th) Jason Leffler (16th)
and Kyle Busch (30th).
JOEY LOGANO, No. 20
GameStop Toyota Camry, Joe
Gibbs Racing Finished: 1st
Can you talk about your
first win tonight? "This
team is amazing. I can't
thank GameStop and Toyota
enough. It's just amazing.
We unloaded not where we
wanted to, but no one gave
up. This team worked really
hard and got the win out of
this thing. It's pretty
awesome to get my first win
now."
Can you describe your
feelings now that you've won
your first race? "It's
definitely awesome. We
didn't unload this morning
the way we wanted to, but
Dave (Rogers, crew chief)
and the guys never gave up.
They worked hard on it and
changed everything. I didn't
know what I was going to
have going into (turn) one
on the first green flag lap.
We were a little snug at the
beginning, but again, we
never gave up. We kept
loosening it up. That last
pit stop, we got it about
right. It was a little bit
free, then we got a heat
cycle under it and it got a
little bit snug. Overall,
the GameStop Toyota was
pretty good tonight."
What do you think this
week will be like for you,
and do you think Kyle Busch
would've beaten you if he
didn't spin? "I can promise
you that I'll be in a good
mood all week. It was
unfortunate to see Kyle
(Busch) hit the fence there.
I think our car was strong
enough that we might have
been able to hold him off.
Dave (Rogers) told me on the
way here, 'We're going to
win one way or another. I
don't know how, but we're
going to win this thing.' I
took his word for it and it
worked. The whole last 20
laps, I was praying for it
to go green…Once we finally
took that white flag, that
felt a lot better. I just
cruised around the last lap,
it was nice."
Did you and Kyle Busch
talk much about how the cars
were handling? "As far as
driver-to-driver, we didn't
really share much
information today, because
he didn't get here until
later on. I worked with
Jeremy (Clements) a little
bit. Mostly, Dave (Rogers)
and Jason Ratcliff (No. 18
crew chief) work together
pretty good, and they were
able to get both of these
cars cool. It was pretty
neat to see both of these
JGR cars running one-two for
a while."
Has Kyle Busch talked to
you about dealing with the
pressures of racing in
NASCAR? "It's something that
I've gotten used to. Since I
was 14 running ASA, I've
always been under a
microscope. 'You can't do
this. You can't do that.'
I'm kind of used to that
pressure. That part is not
really new to me. I'd feel
weird if it wasn't like
that. I've talked to him
(Kyle) a few times, but just
racing things. Who you can
race with and things about
the car. We don't talk about
dealing with the media or
anything."
Are you surprised to get
your first win so early? "I
expected to win Dover. It
was cool to get our first
win here in the third start.
Obviously, I was getting in
one of the best cars out
there that has won seven
races. I have to win races.
It's not even an option. To
get here and get our second
pole and get our first win,
now we can get rolling."

DAVE ROGERS, Crew Chief,
No. 20 GameStop Toyota
Camry, Joe Gibbs Racing Can
you talk about what this win
means for you and this team?
This race is probably a
characteristic of this
GameStop Toyota Camry and
all the guys that work on
it. Like Joey (Logano) said,
we came off the truck really
tight. The guys changed
everything but the door
number and the name above
the door. They worked really
hard, and kept working on it
through the race. The pit
crew did a good job and the
driver willed it to the
front. I'm really proud of
this win."
What types of adjustments
did you make to get the car
to work better for Joey?
"Every time we pitted, we
took four tires. We just
kept raising the track bar
and taking wedge out. We
kept jockeying air pressure
around. I was in a tight
spot there because we
changed two springs and a
sway bar before the race and
that was about three of 18
items. We bottomed out so
bad on low air pressure, so
I knew Joey had his hands
full. I wanted to take some
air pressure out of the
fronts or take some air
pressure out of the left
sides. But, I couldn't
because I knew it was going
to bottom out worse. So I
went to the back of the car
and really unhooked the
back. Joey drove through it
and made it happen."
Are you impressed with
Joey's talents now that
you've worked with him for a
few races? "Three starts,
two poles, one win. He's
okay."
MIKE WALLACE, No. 7 Geico
Toyota Camry, Germain Racing
Finished: 3rd Can you talk
about the third-place
finish, the best result of
the season for your team?
"Our car was really good. We
just ran into some obstacles
once we hit pit road. Back
in the short-track days,
they had what they called
the 'Australian Pursuit,'
where you'd get points for
passing cars. Well, we won
that race tonight. I'm
really happy with the whole
team. It was the best run
we've had all year, and I've
had in a couple years. It's
nice to know as a driver you
can still go out there and
compete with everybody and
get the job done. We proved
tonight that we can do that
and we look for great
things. We found some things
in our race cars about a
month ago that have made
them run better and compete
better, and we finished
third. I wish we would've
had a caution with about
five to go to challenge
Scott (Wimmer) and Joey (Logano)."
KYLE BUSCH, No. 18 Farm
Bureau Insurance Toyota
Camry, Joe Gibbs Racing
Finished: 30th Can you
explain what happened during
your incident on-track? "I'm
not sure. I don't know. We
made some adjustments there.
Jason (Ratcliff, crew chief)
and the guys gave me an
awesome car. That thing was
flawless. I don't know what
happened. I had been
complaining about being
tight all night. We made
some adjustments and got it
loose in the first couple
laps. It was starting to
come to. I was loose there
when I wrecked, so I don't
know exactly what happened.
I just lost it, I guess, and
hit the wall. I hate it for
these guys -- that was a
great car."
Do you think you would've
had anything for Joey Logano
at the end of the race?
"They kept getting tighter
and tighter the more we
went. He was out in clean
air, so he had a little bit
of an advantage there. I was
just kind of riding, doing
about 90 percent, and seeing
what was playing out in the
final laps to see if we
could catch him."
