Ford Kentucky Nationwide
- post-race quotes
MARCOS AMBROSE – No. 59
STP Ford Fusion – (finished
6th, qualified 3rd) – “Gary
Cogswell has done a great
job for us as a new crew
chief. He got us all back on
the same page. We got back
to some basics. It’s taken
him seven races to get us
there, but I feel like we’re
really starting to turn a
corner. It was just a solid
run. We didn’t panic any
where through the race. We
didn’t panic three, four or
five races ago. We just knew
that we had to get back to
basics and understand what
we had and start working it
out.” WAS IT IMPORTANT
HAVING A GOOD RUN GOING INTO
NEXT WEEK’S DOUBLE DUTY? “I
guess it justifies a little
bit why were going out
there. We’re going out there
to try and stay in the
points and see if we can get
ourselves back in the
top-10, so it helps with
that. That was good, so
we’ll try and do double duty
next week and see how it
goes.” DID THE CAR FEEL
BETTER THAN IT HAS IN THE
PAST? IS IT A HANDLING
THING? “It’s just
understanding what these
cars need. I haven’t done a
very good job of trying to
get what I need and Gary has
been good enough to listen
to what I’m saying and make
changes and we’re heading in
the right direction.” YOU
RAN IN THE TOP 10 ALL NIGHT.
“Yeah, it’s a nice isn’t it?
It’s a nice change. I’m
pretty pumped with that.
There’s a lot of expectation
on us this year being the
second year. We want to get
back to top 10 in points. We
just want to run solid
top-10s all week, every
weekend. That’s the first
time we’ve generally been in
the top 10 all day. I’m
pretty proud of my guys.” DO
YOU FEEL THAT YOU’VE FOUND
YOUR RHYTHM? “I think we’re
starting to understand what
these cars need. Our team is
working great combined
between myself and the 47
team with sharing
information and we’re
getting on top of it. As a
team, we’re moving forward.”
DAVID RAGAN – No. 6
Discount Tire Ford Fusion –
(finished 7th, qualified
26th) – A NICE FINISH FOR
NOT HAVING PRACTICE TIME.
“Yeah, we had a third place
car tonight. The 18 and the
20 were the definitely the
class of the field. We just
had no motor and we couldn’t
pass. The car was about as
perfect as it could be back
in traffic. I took a third
place car and finished
seventh. I’m disappointed.
It could have been a lot
better. But we still gotta
keep working, man. We’ve got
to work where we could
outrun those Gibbs cars. On
a perfect night to finish
seventh, that’s not good
enough.”
BRAD COLEMAN – No. 27
Cottonelle/Meijer Ford
Fusion – (finished 15th,
qualified 5th) – “It took me
two Lucky Dogs and a lot of
luck to get a top-15 finish.
I’m happy with it. This was
our best run of the year and
it’s hard to complain about
that. The Cottonelle Ford
Fusion started off loose in
the race. We had a pretty
good race car. We had a
top-10 race car, but as the
night went on it just got
looser and looser. I was
driving that thing as hard
as I could saving it in
every corner. We just got
lucky with being so good at
the beginning that we never
got a lap down for long and
finished on the lead lap.”
WHY WAS IT GETTING SO LOOSE
AND HOW WERE YOU ABLE TO FIX
IT? “The crew did something
to left rear to try and fix
it. It helped it a little
bit, but I think a lot of it
has to do with aero and a
lot of it has to do with the
general set-up of the car.
It felt a lot softer this
weekend than it has any
weekend. So, I think that
might have something to do
with it.” CAN YOU TAKE A
FINISH FROM TONIGHT INTO
MILWAUKEE? “Yeah, I love
Milwaukee. I started fourth
last year there and finished
fourth. I know that race
track just like I know
Kentucky. I’m excited about
going there. It’s a short
track and we have good short
track cars.”
BOBBY HAMILTON JR. – No.
25 Curly’s/John Morrell Ford
Fusion – (finished 21st,
qualified 20th) – “It was a
rough night. We battled
motor stuff all day long.
And having to make up for
that so much through the
corner that you can’t and
then your car gets way off
and the chassis gets way
off. We’re trying to correct
something we can’t fix
because we don’t build
them.”
