Ford Loudon Nationwide Post-Race Quotes

CARL EDWARDS – No. 60 Under Armour Ford Fusion (Finished 5th) – “The team is doing well. The pit stops were unbelievable. That’s the reason we’re there and we got the fifth position, but it was very cool for Under Armour to come on board. I really wanted to win that race. All of the guys were pretty pumped about getting some free Under Armour if we got into Victory Lane, but we’ll take it. It was a very knife-edge race. The cars were very close out there today and small things made the difference.” WHAT MORE CAN YOU SAY ABOUT THE GIBBS CARS? “It’s pretty spectacular. Those guys are doing a great job. There are ups and downs in this sport and right now they’re on the up side and we’ve just got to look at what they’re doing and emulate them and try to get them by the end of the season.”

DAVID RAGAN – No. 6 Discount Tire Ford Fusion (Finished 6th) – “I knew we had a good car, I just didn’t get a good lap in and just didn’t do the right adjustments for qualifying. We knew our car was pretty fast yesterday and track position is huge here. You see a lot of these guys just out front dominating like the 99 and the 2 and then they get back in the back and they just can’t do anything. I feel like our pit crew did a good job today and our Discount Tire Ford was fast, but it takes the whole package to win these things. We were close, it was a good day, but we’ve just got to keep getting better.” DID YOU HAVE A SIXTH-PLACE CAR TODAY? “Yeah, we had a solidly fifth or sixth-place car. I think the 99 probably had a little better car than we did and maybe even the 2 at times, but I thought we were a little better than a few cars in front of us. We just couldn’t catch them to get by, so it’s one of those days where we improved our finish in this race from what we did last year and that’s a good thing. We’ve got some good notes to go off of and still have Richmond and Phoenix to go to this year, so we’ll keep working on things.”

MARCOS AMBROSE – No. 59 STP Ford Fusion (Finished 14th) – “It was a reasonable day for us. We fought hard and had a good strategy and stayed out of trouble – which is one of the things you want to try and do before the start of the race. It would have been nice to get a top-10 out of it, but we’ll take 14th and move on.” THE GIBBS CARS ARE DOMINANT, BUT YOU’RE HANGING IN THERE. “Yeah, we’re hanging in there. We’re in the middle of the main bunch, which is all you can really ask for.”

BRAD COLEMAN – No. 27 Kleenex Ford Fusion (Finished 31st) – “We got wrecked on lap two, so it was just really a tough day. Our car felt pretty good in practice and we qualified pretty decent in 15th, so I was just excited to get the race going. The rule is, ‘In order to finish first, you must first finish,’ but if you do something to your nose on lap two, you’re not gonna finish good. It was just a bad day for the Kleenex Ford.” WAS THERE ANY MISCOMMUNICATION OR CONFUSION AS FAR AS GETTING OUT OF THE CAR AND GOING TO THE CARE CENTER BECAUSE THE CAR DIDN’T APPEAR TO BE BADLY DAMAGED? “What I don’t understand is all we did was put it in the tires a little bit. I was stuck in the tires and they wanted me to get out so they could put it on the tow truck and pull me all the way to the garage. Then I had to go to the care center and it wasted 20 laps. I could have just sat in the car and they could have pulled it out of the tires and we would have been good to go. I don’t know, maybe it’s a rule that they have that I don’t know about. I’m sure they did whatever was right, so we’ll just move on to next week.”
