· In nine NASCAR
Nationwide Series starts at
Daytona, Leffler has logged
four top-10 finishes,
finishing outside the top-20
only once. His best
performance occurred in the
2006 season opener when he
posted a sixth place finish
after starting 24th. He has
completed 1008 of 1009 laps
(99.9%) possible laps.
· Leffler has proved to
be a strong qualifier at
restrictor plate races,
starting inside the
top-three in the last five.
One year ago, Leffler
captured the pole at
Daytona. He also has one
NASCAR Craftsman Truck
Series pole at Daytona to
his credit (2003).
LEFFLER ON DAYTONA
INTERNATIONAL SPEEDWAY:
“The mental challenge of
restrictor-plate races is
something that I really
enjoy. You are in a position
where you are constantly
making decisions - which
groove to jump in, who to
draft with, etc. A good
spotter is the magic key
because you really have to
rely on him in making those
choices. I am lucky to have
that in Tab Boyd; he is one
of the best in the garage
area and especially in these
types of races. The entire
race really gets your
adrenaline pumping but it’s
those final five or ten laps
that you pretty much hold
your breath the entire time.
There is a lot of
bump-drafting going on and
you just hope you can get a
good shove to the lead. You
really just don’t know how
it’s all going to pan out
until the checkered flag
drops.”
EQUIPMENT INFORMATION:
The No. 38 Great Clips
team will unload chassis
#004 in this weekend’s
Winn-Dixie 250. This is the
same chassis Leffler has
driven in his last five
restrictor plate races. This
season, Leffler drove #004
to a fourth place finish at
Talladega, his best ever
finish at a restrictor plate
race, and to a 19th place
finish in the season opener
at Daytona. He also drove
this chassis in all three
restrictor plate races in
2007. While driving this car
he has never qualified
outside the top-three.
